Possible fix for "insufficient driver memory" error
Ok, I've been afflicted with the insidious "The Bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth radio" error now for quite a while on my Hx2755.

A little background first......
I could only turn on BT after a soft reset as long as it was the first thing I attempted to do. BT would continue to work flawlessly until I hit the power button, even if I closed all open apps and turn off BT and Wi-Fi. This was reproducible every time I'd cycle the power on the PDA.

I think I may have found a fix for it.

1. I did a full (Sprite) backup then a hard reset.

2. On the now clean pda, I verified that I could stop/start BT with all kinds of apps open. Basically I tried to reproduce the error; I could not.

3. On the still clean PDA I navigated to the \windows directory and copied all of the related BT files (They all started with "BT" or "bt", in my case there was 27 files total) to a folder in the FileStore called BT Backup.

4. I then did a Sprite restore and (surprise!) the BT error was reproducible every time after a power cycle.

5. I then copied all 27 original BT files from the FS back to the \windows directory. I got a few errors about some of the files residing ROM. I threw caution to the wind and clicked yes to them and figured "what the hell, it doesn't work right anyway AND I have a full restore that worked once"

6. That’s it.......

Everything worked perfectly after that. I even turned on every "Today Plug-in" optionand still couldn't reproduce the error. All other programs worked fine as well, I'll post back here in a few days to verify it's still working properly.

Just thought I'd share.......

Very interesting. It would be interesting to compare the new BT files with the old BT files to see if the file sizes, dates, change. Also, did you have the same 27 files?

Just do a soft reset and it will go away.

Also, you may want to adjust the amounts of RAM/ROM (if you have WM2003SE) on your device.

I used to get the error when trying to use bluetooth and Wifi at the same time. If you activate BT first then WIFI you shouldn't have the problem.

This is a persistant problem that a soft reset has always fixed but I shouldn't need to do that to use BT. I stll get the error regardless of the RAM/ROM settings and even with all Today plugins turned off.

I get the memory error occasionally too. The funny thing is that I normally have around 15-18 MBs of available RAM when that happens and maybe 2 programs running. It's really annoying and I understand your frustration.

Even though I have a task manager set up and close any and all running programs BT still thinks it doesn't have enough available memory to start (mind you with now 20 MBs of RAM free to run it!!). It's another WM hiccup. You're forced to do a soft reset to allow BT to finally realize it can actually run.

I don't see any fix for it outside of running BT first before any other programs when you freshly reset your PPC.
