What I ment was, you want to connect to the web. So you connect to the PC using a bluetooth adapter, and then connect as easily as you would to a open wifi network. Without having to do anything from the PC to initiate it.

I have no idea about an Acer but, generally speaking, you can set up an automatic connection to your PC via BT.
If the Acer uses active sync to connect then you can use internet passthrough portion of active sync to connect to the internet.
Sorry, I'm not even sure if the Acer is your PPC or your PC.

What I think he is asking is if a BT PAN can be used for connecting to a PC as a 'proxy/internet connection sharing'.

That is going to be more based upon the BT stack in both devices...

MORE DETAIL REQUIRED

Once you have been through the pairing process, creating a partnership between your PPC and PC, and as long as your Bluetooth software supports activesync and offers you it as a service to use from the PPC, [Acer stack is not always the most user friendly] you should be able to connect to the internet through your PC. I'm using Blue Soleil software and with my acer I don't get the option to activesync with my paired devices. Only serial port.

Right, well I think you've said something that points in my direction. I do have an Acer N30, though haven't used it in a while. Chargers broken. But connecting the pda to the pc, just as simple as connecting to a wifi network, requires in this case for a partnership using bluetooth?

You really need to tell us what device your using, what PC your using, and what you want to do, clearly. My interpretation, you want to connect your handheld to your PC to access internet.

If you have BT on both devices you should be able to access internet if they are connected properly

The Acer N30 appears to run wm2003. If that is the case then you most likely connect to your PC via Active Sync.
With the correct BT dongle you can set up a partnership with the PC and access Active sync. This will allow you to connect to the internet via your PC.
It will also allow you to sync files, add software etc.
When it is set up correctly it will connect automatically whenever the PPC is in range of the PC.
