Question on Bluetooth
Hi
I have Dell Inspiron 6400 and Plantronics Explorer 300 Series Bluetooth Headset. I want to pair these two and use it for my yahoo or skype or msn messengers. Is there a work around? Is there a way I can pair them together?

I have windows XP Professional.

Any intrstructions will be most appriciated.

Okay then,

First thing to do is to install the software that came with the headset. During the installation it will ask you to pair the devices. Most of the time the code to pair is 0000 (4 zeros). If you do not have the CD, You will have to look on the package and Google the serial number which will likely bring you to Plantronic CD or drivers download area.

Does your computer have Bluetooth?
If yes, turn BT on and make it discoverable (Bluetooth Settings)
Turn bluetooth "on" on the head set, (you will find the instructions in the quick start guide that came with the headset).
Set the head set to discoverable, ( again you will find this in the Quick start guide, often it is just holding the button until it stays on or flashes or flashes different colours)
Go to the computer and select add device.
It will search for the headset.
When it finds it select it and go Next
add the code to connect usually 0000
go next or finish or follow whatever other suggestions it logically comes up with.

That is one way, it all depends on your computer and the specific headset.

Basically, if you have BT on your PC, follow the instructions and it will connect.
If you don't have BT then you need to buy a BT adapter.

Do you have the headset set to pairing mode when you search for it?

From the user guide.
Quote:
Begin with headset turned off.
1. Press call control button for
6 seconds. Release button when
indicator light flashes blue and
red. Headset is ready to pair with
Bluetooth device.

Yes I tried that part. Is there any software that needs to be downloaded for Plantronics to work?
