Well, I use bluetooth to connect my phone to my hands free kit when I'm driving, but you can also use it to connect to other BT devices to sync or share files.
Yep as Jogga says,
BT,
Handsfree
Stereo headset
GPS
ActiveSync
Dial up Network, DUN, mobile modem for a computer or PPC
File transfer, various different ways
Mouse
Keyboard
I've used bluetooth to connect my phone to my laptop, then transfer photos from my phone to my laptop (or connect the phone to my Axim and transfer photos to the Axim); I've also tranferred address book and calendar info from my laptop to my phone via bluetooth instead of using a cable.

Thanks to PocketBrain for bringing the parrot to life!! :)
Think of what a device could do if connected to another device via a cable. BT replaces the wire and enables the 2 devices to communicate (assuming they have a function/feature that can be shared between them)
i.e, you can have a BT headset and so they can connect and pass/share audio... but not pictures, because a headset has no need/use for pictures...

It only hurt once, from beginning to end.
Peace means having a bigger stick then the other guy.
Loosing may do little to your credibility, but quitting will destroy it.
I'm using BT-GPS and WiFiFoFum on my Axim for tracing hot spots when I'm out traveling :)
Some GPS receivers can transmit their informations using BT.
My axim contains a couple of programs that can interpret the GPS data.
In the huge cities in India or China you may easily loose your orientation. Before leaving my residence I therefore log it's coordinates and use my ax to show the distance and direction to find my way back.
Hey, I object! Talk about New York City... I used to live in Beijing and you get used to it.
As for GPS, I bought a Garmin GPS 10 and am very satisfied wtih it.
