Current Date/Time lost after battery removal

I have a QTek 8100 (aka HTC Amadeus or SDA Music).

Sometimes (I do some betatesting), usual reboot won't work (on/off button at the top) for some reasons, probably linked to softwate I am testing.
The only solution is to remove the battery to perform a forced reboot (it's not a hard-reset, everything is still in)
But in this case, date/time are back to the original Feb 2nd 2005.

I remember that it was not behaving like that it was brand new, but now it does...

I am wondering about backup battery... (is there one? Is it out of ordre? ...)

Anyone else???

I have an Audiovox SMT5600 and also had this problem. I looked online everywhere to see if this was something I could fix (or get fixed), but it looks like that it is something that just happens when you take out the battery.

I have an Orange C600, it does the same thing when I swap the mini-SD card (battery out time!). It's crap isn't it?

Audiovox SMT 5600 does have an internal battery

The Audiovox SMT 5600 does have an internal battery on the "motherboard" which apparently holds the time and date. It seems not to last long. Its tiny, only 6mm and soldered in. I just removed mine but have yet to find a replacement. Mine was leaking so I am guessing its probably alkaline. I don't know the voltage either but guessing 1.5. The phone works fine without it but I am going to try to install a new one if I can find one.

Here are the instructions on how to take the phone apart:

SMT5600 / C500 Disassembly and Dust Fix Instructions

1. Open the battery cover and remove the battery, Mini SD card and SIM Card. And remove the rubber plug by the digital camera mirror.

2. Take the small Phillips screwdriver and put it through the small rectangular opening located above the battery compartment on the right side and push the small black tab inside the opening while pushing up on the top cover until the cover pops up a little, then do the same to the opening on the left side. Note: I used a S1.5 slotted screwdriver.

3. When both sides of the top cover are released, push the cover up a little and then push it forward to slide off the top cover. Note: There are two tabs at the top of the cover as well, do not force it off.

4. Unscrew all 6 screws with the T5/T6 Torx screwdriver. Please note that there is a screw under the VOID sticker also.

5. Used an old credit card or any plastic card to slide along the side and top seam between the front and back housing. Once the top and the sides of the cover is released pull the back housing up a little and push the back housing downwards to fully release the cover and to clear the Mini USB and headphone plug.
