WTB: Good GPS device for x50v
I've been looking for a good GPS for my Axim x50v lately. I no nothing about GPSs. My guess is that once you chose from a whole variety of receivers you than have to chose for a good software as well.
In my search for a good GPS, the one that looks the best seems to be this Solar SiRF Star III bt receiver. If anyone has one to sell of any other good ones, under US$80...plz contact me....and any info about GPSs and how they work would be apriciated too.
PS: I'm moving to Brazil this summer, I'm not sure if the GPS works there, or if the softwares have maps for it.
thx

Yes, GPS will work in Brazil (and anywhere else in the world), but you should do some research into the availability of mapping software before making your purchase. You wouldn't want to end up with a lovely receiver that collects dust. Have a read in the GPS forums and be sure to check out Jakerich's excellent tutorials.

I paid $98.96 plus 10$ shipping, so 108.96
Practically brand new,
I used it no more than 1 hour total driving time and its a great bluetooth gps. I just dont need it though because I have a MS streets and trips and a magellan handheld already.
if you are interested I am willing to sell it for 105$ shipped USPS

I bought mine from TeleType GPS (www.teletype.com) for my X50. I think it was $139 INCLUDING software. It's my second GPS from this company and I couldn't be more satisfied with the reliability and quality. The first one I got was a plug-in type a few years back for my iPaq, and it led me safely back to my destination after the driver got lost in a very bad snowstorm. (I was asleep in the back seat!) When I woke up, I hooked up the GPS and found she had wandered 30 miles off course, into some back woods area with no road signs, and nothing but woods, snow, and fields around. My TeleType GPS saved the day! (In spite of the very heavy could cover.)
