Another vote for USB hard disk option.

Also another vote for Clock function. I generally don't wear any jewelry. Once in a while when I have to "Dress-Up" I'll throw on my watch, but otherwise I can't seem to wear rings, necklaces, watches, etc... With a clock on this, I could just pull it out and show the time.

Don't own one yet but soon enough!

i support the reccomendation for the DJ to be recognized as an external hard drive. I heard you can actually run a separate OS off the iPod.

Yes, that is true although that is more down to the way the Mac can use any internal/external drive as a system disk. For instance, if I copy my Mac's bootdrive to my iPod I can run it on any other Mac, very useful.

suggestion:

1. fix DJ Explorer to properly transfer track number data to the DJ from the track on the 'puter

2. enhance DJ firmware to support OGG VORBIS (.ogg) format.

I too would like to see it automatically appear as a hard drive. This makes thing simple - just drag and drop songs. Plus you can store files.

Additional features I'd like to see:
- Multiple, named custom EQ settings that can be associated with each song.
- Line in/mic in/optical in recording. Obviously this is a feature for a next gen model. As a part time musician, I have an MD player to record practices. It would be nice if I could record to .wav or have the DJ on the fly convert to mp3. There are other mp3 players that have this capability so the chips to do it are out there.

The DVD Audio forum has just announced they will use AAC. If AAC becomes a standard, and it wouldn't surprise me if it did since it is essentially mpeg4 audio and the recording industry loves what Apple has done, I think at some point Dell will have to support AAC. Might as well bite the bullet and do it now.

Some may view this as purely cosmetic, but I would like to have an option to have the backlight behave differently depending on the DJ's power source, just like the Axim does it. The current backlight options are "OFF/5/15/30 sec", I would like one setting for when on battery power and a different one when on external power, so the backlight would optionally shut off after a specified period of time OR remain on when I've plugged it into a power source.

Replacement Battery

BTW: In regards to the "Replacable Battery" pending suggestion, I think this has been covered. See this link for details, or go here to order a replacement battery kit for $50.

Actually, the cooler feature in my opinion would be to have it on/off based on the time of day. You know, after 5 or 6PM the backlight would could come on automatically.

Of course, we're all just dreaming anyhow, right? :p

Nice Idea Jordan.... I would personally have the backlite on permanently regardless of batterry draining power.

To keep the backlight on permanently, all it would take would be firmware change to add ON to the list of current options (which are OFF/5/15/30 sec). Both this change and my suggestion (to have two settings, each based on the current power state) could be combined fairly easily, I would think.

definetly usb hard disk support.
i would as well very much like to see vorbis support!

i guess it's number three on lossy audio formats, after mpc and afterwards aac. would be waaay better than wma (said to be a really lousy format, and artificially making music "better" instead of preserving original cd quality. haven't experimented much with it, though.)
(btw, aac is not mpeg4, is it? cause mp3 is also mpeg1, layer 3. correct me please if i'm wrong (with aac not being mpeg4))

AAC is indeed the audio component of MPEG4;
