As mentioned in this thread, I, along with other DMS members and anyone else who wants, am going to craft a list of all the things we do not like about the Dell DJ and it's complimentary software, MusicMatch. There is not a single member of this website who owns a DJ that would claim the device and its relative software is perfect. People have posted complaints about the firmware of the DJ, but now we are going to make a compilation of all the complaints for several reasons. - So people who come to the forums are not re-posting the same complain that has already been discussed.

- As a reference for everyone at the site

- Most importantly, to send to Dell so they know what the users are thinking: their complaints, their suggestions and what they, we, want see change

The first thing we are going to do is compile a list of all the suggestions towards the DJ. Everyone can submit their suggestion, and if people agree that it is something they would like to see change, than I will add it to the master list in the next post. Let's limit suggestions to firmware upgrades and MMJB updates. Try not to post something that you think only you would like to have changed. However, I want several people to agree that something should be changed. So even if you are not submitting a change, but instead see a suggestion in the pending list, which will be located in the next post as well, that you would also like to see, go ahead and post your thoughts. Let's make it 4 users need to agree with a suggestion for it to be added to the list.
After the list starts to accumulate, and all the suggestions have been covered, we will begin to write a formal explination of each suggestion. Someone may volunteer to write one and then that person can post it in this thread. If no one disagrees or has anything to add, I will add it to the next post
Once we have an explination for each item on the list, everyone who wants to see these changes made, will e-mail copy of the final suggestion compilation to Dell. One of us will post the complilation on the Dell message boards. We can also try to get the Admin of DMS to send a copy with the DMS e-mail address.
Our ultimate goal is to let Dell know all of our complaints and suggestions and to show them that these are suggestions of the masses and not of single users.

My main request is that I would like the DJ to be recognized on Windows as a storage unit without using the drivers. I use a few computers, and wipe my harddrive frequently, so it would be nice for this feature

As you know, I don't have a DJ yet, so I can't really advise. BUT! There is something I can do! Chris gave me the power as a moderator here (I quote: I am granting you liberties to have fun.) So, I'm pinning this topic to the top of the forum so everyone will see it.

A deeper filing system on the DJ. Instead of having artist/songs or album/songs have artist/album/songs and genre/artist/album/songs.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I was getting ready to but then my Dad nagged me off. Heh. Alright, I like the two suggestions (we can use my other post about Artists>Albums>Tracks as a reference when we are writing an explination for it).
Two more people need to support each item for them to be added to the final list from the pending list.
I have a few suggestions to:
1. When playing a song, if you scroll through the "Selected Music" list and highlight a song and then the screen changes to the now playing "Current Track" screen, if you scroll back, it automatically places you to the last highlighted track in the Selected Music. However, if you scroll through the Media Librabry and have another artist or track highlighted (does not matter, just have anything highlighted other than a track in selected music) and then the screen changes to the Current Track display, when you scroll again, it returns you to the Selected Music rather than your last highlighted location. This is especially helpful when you don't want to add more tracks to Selected Music, but instead play a new track(s) altogether when a certain song ends. Let me know if this didn't make sense, and I'll try and explain it better.
2. I would like to see MusicMatch sort tracks like the DJ does. With this, you can easily sort through artists, albums, and genres to remove tracks. Also, I wish that when you right click a song or selected songs in a playlist folder, a "Remove from Playlist" option was available. Currently, the only option is to "Remove," which is very vague. I took that it meant remove from the playlist. Imagine my surprise when I learned that it actually removed the tracks from the actual DJ. The only option for removing playlist files is right-clicking on the playlist folder and removing the entire playlist.

Put me in for the driver update.
An update for the track removal option from the current playlist of "crop" or "remove all but playing track." In other words you want to switch playlists but not till after the current song playing ends. Am I clear on this?

Yeah, thats kinda like my suggestion of going to the last highlighted. I like your idea, but instead how about a track will continue to play, until finished, when it is removed from Selected Music?
