CD-MP3-DJ Guide
Anshu
What I aim to provide in this tutorial is a place for n00bs or pros to come and learn how to take a audio cd, convert that to the mp3 format and then move that to the DJ.
Before we begin
Things to understand, lingo etc
Ripping- Taking the files on a audio CD and moving them to the computer and making them MP3
MP3- A Highly compressed version of audio files, recognized by all players
Software we will use
Dell DJ Explorer- For moving MP3’s to the DJ
DBpoweramp music converter (DBP)- For Ripping CDs and encoding them to MP3
Download and install this software before we begin
Part 1 Ripping
1. First things first, put the cd in your default CD drive, usually this is drive D
2. on the desktop(if you left the option selected) or in the start menu find DMC Audio CD Input. Open
3. If the track names come up skip this step, in the upper left look for a button that says freedb
(PIC 1 A) click it. If no filenames come up make sure you are on the net, if still nothing then the cd isn’t listed in the database
4. In the upper left, look for a button that says RIP
(PIC 1 B), right click it

Part 2 Encoding
1. A new window should appear it should look like
PIC 2
2. In the top middle change the box
(PIC 2 1) so it say MP3 LAME
3. At
PIC 2 2 move the slider to where it says 192 at
PIC 2 3
a. This is a good mix of quality and size, the more you know you will tweak this yourself
4. Where it says browse
(PIC 2 4) change it to a new directory on the desktop
5. Click convert, this should take about 5-20 mins

Part 3 Transferring
1. Connect the DJ
2. Go to My Computer>DJ Explorer>Music Library
3. Go to Desktop>”the folder you choose during Part 2 4
4. select all the files in your folder and drag onto the dj explorer window
5. wait for it to transfer
Also there are also other options such as winamp, musicmatch, itunes and EAC. If its requested I can make tutorials for them. Personally I find this the fastest easiest and best sounding way to get music cds on to the DJ.
