When I took a class last semester, I used my laptop quite a bit but not during class. Just not practical. However, a classmate had a tablet PC that he used as a laptop when needed PLUS he used it every day for taking notes in class.
I was very impressed--WAY more functional for notetaking due to the extra screen real-estate, easy to save, erase, copy, email, etc. Even though a tablet PC is obviously bigger and heavier than an Axim, the tablet is still very handy due to the intuitive use of the touch screen, PLUS you can run any windows program you like on it, any peripheral you want is supported, you can upgrade the memory and disk space (within limits), you don't have to convert documents to pocketPC format, watching movies and playing games is just that much better for the bigger screen, and best of all--
no f*in Activesync to deal with!!
The disadvantage would be the device doesn't fit easily in your pocket or purse, oh, and also startup time, but if they could make it wake up comparably fast to turning the screen on your Axim, that would be awesome.
So I would have to say, yeah buddy, I would want in on that action. I love my Axim(s) but I'm just really tired of memory limitations, losing data (my fault or otherwise) and especially nagging Activesync problems. I think a device that could eliminate those problems would more than compensate for disadvantages with size/weight and startup time. For certain situations (like note taking at the office or in a classroom) I think I would like it much better than pocketPC.
