MS Reader doesn't work?
Microsoft never misses opportunity to upset customers : DRM protected eBooks in MS Reader format not working in Windows Mobile 5.0
October 07, 2005; [Pocket PC phone]
Microsoft is working on the solution but in meantime if your eBooks are in Microsoft Reader format and protected by Microsoft's DRM and you switched to Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC phone edition device, then you can't use them anymore! Apparently this problem applies only to Pocket PC phone edition devices! Not to regular non-phone PDAs with Windows Mobile 5.0!

So if this issue is important for you, you may wait with buying till this issue will be resolved....

I have an X5, so I don't know. I thought some people would like to see it though.

Doesn't suprise me one bit. There was a time when I used MSReader exclusively. Not any more. It's insane the steps you have to go thru to keep it activated. The last straw was when I lost my Axim activation overnight while the device was turned off. Guess that's why it's free. I still use it on my laptop though and that version seems way more stable..

Thanks for posting this info. Yet another "con" for WM 2005. Such a pity.

Happy to report that Microsoft Reader on my new X51v is now reading DRM protected books just fine. (Well a bit slow loading big books) Not sure what I did but I had remembered I had changed my sign on e-mail address for passport a few months ago. Just for the heck of it I went to passport and changed it back to same address I used when I got the books. I then un installed Reader , reinstalled and reactivated signing on to passport with the old (new ) passowrd. Works juts fine now and looks great on the VGA screen
