Two new Baen's have been added to the free library here.
They are David Weber and Steve White, "Crusade" (first book in the "Starfire Series") and Fred Saberhagen, "Berserker Throne" (part of the "Berserker Series").
Well, bully for Baen, but I got really tired of his program. It's more or less all "Worlds@War", either in a Sci-Fi or a fantasy setting. Kinda boring.
Baen does a lot of military S/F, but they make no bones about that. They do have a lot of other stuff apart from that (S/f and fantasy), and have books from authors like Poul Anderson, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Lois Bujold, C. J. Cherryh, Heinlein, Larry Niven, Andre Norton, Zelazny and more. The books are in lots of formats, and have NO DRM, which is good enough for me! :)
Baen is, in my opione an excellent site and thier attitude about making available free books sure has bought my loyalty, of course it helps that they represent many of my favorite author as well.
But the nice thing is you can download them and read them at your own good time. I have downloaded all of the Baen books that are free and of course my paid ones and keep them safely backed up. I don't want something to change at Baen or a disater there that might make them unable to get them later.
I agree that David Weber could cut down on those FTL stats for the fleets he's always bringing up but Steve White is really good with characters so "Crusade" should be a good read.

I've been a websubscription user at Baen since it started, 2001, and I think that they are absolutely great! For sci-fi, fantasy readers they have wonderful authors. Their free stuff is wonderful... unfortunately I've got most of them so I get the early releases. Crusade is great! and after starting with Crusade... there are still more in the series to read.
