Strange problems with Haali ebook reader.

Now there is already lot of discussion about lots of ebook readers so i just tried Haali really liked :approve: it.Now the good part was that it was able to open PDF files stored in my PDA straight but i guess the menu which was used was from some unfamiliar language so I had to guess what is in menu and open .I really liked all the functionalty provided.

SO i thought may be i should download an english version of haali reader but to my dismay the latest english version is not able to covert PDF files properly,as the non english version(PdF file is in english).

So now I am using non-english software to,bases on english menu(?? strange).Any one knows whats wrong here?

BTW any one else used this with a dictonary?.

I use Haali reader too and I have only praises for it. To my knowledge Haali reader only reads " .txt". SO I have to convert everything to txt which saves space, however I miss any diagrams or pictures. Does Haali reader reads pdf file?

Psudo, the official Haali Reader site is here and it does not mention anywhere that Haali Reader can read PDF files. In fact, it states quite clearly that Haali Reader can only read plain text and XML formats. It even states that HTML is not supported.

If an earlier version, or a version in a different language, could read PDF files, why would they remove that functionality for the latest English version? It doesn't make sense.

Are you sure you're referring to Haali Reader?

I am not able to execute the file. It says not a valid Windows file. Anyone know good program to read pdf - needs to be compatible with WM5.

Hello all! My first post on this forum... I hope to make friends in here and learn a lot with you guys.

This is a Windows Mobile executable. Your first need to copy it to any folder on the PDA and then run it from there. I did so and found the about box. It says "HaaliReader v2.0b249 by MFKZBQ". Seaching on Google for "Haali MFKZBQ" I get a lot of results in chinese (I guess). It looks like this is a non-official chinese modification. I say non-official because it is not mentioned anywhere in the official Haali web site.

I tried putting into my SD card, and execute from there, the page is full with unrecognised characters. I later tried executing from main memory but to no avail. Whatever this program is, it doesn't work in WM5. I need to soft reset my pda due to this. I think I will give it a rest...

HaaliReader v2.0b249 by MFKZBQ is a Chinese port using the open source code because HaaliReader does not support Chinese characters for some reason even if the menu said it does. The unrecognized characters are Chinese codes but required a Chinese program to read them (well if you don't read Chinese then it doesn't matter). It's not as well made as the latest HaaliReader but it does support HTML format under WM5.
