I've got some serious issues. I did a hard reset and restore to 2.4.0 which was in main memory. Same thing - my systems hangs on exit. Seems like it has nothing to do with 2.4.1

EngrPaul:

Can you email offline with your device/OS specs? I would like to try to repro this in our lab and see if I can get you a bit more performance. If you have had both installed on your system at various points there may be some items that are hanging around. Especially if you have done any file moving.

Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team

Actully, it was a lot less trouble to learn how to use convertlit.

I a very short time, I already converted all the books I wanted to htm, and now I can delete the memory/resource/cpu/ problem that MS reader is on my system.

I've never had any program, even games and video, make my battery get so hot before! For the longevity of my unit, I have uninstalled MS Reader.

I'm using a X50v with WM2003. MS Reader should be using about 2 or 3 % of my cpu, not 100%. All it does is show text and pictures.

PIE does just fine, now if it would bookmark...

Why is a VGA hack still needed so that pictures are not shown in poor pixeldoubled resolution on a VGA device? How to make the font smaller (smallest setting still too large)? How to switch to a different font? How to adjust the huge white margins? Why is the application so slow, frequently pausing for seconds? All these points are pretty unacceptable and inexcusable. Maybe devote more efforts to the application itself rather than to insidious DRM schemes?

We appreciate your feedback and will make sure that it is noted in our bug database. This release is intended as a bug fix release only and no major design changes were made. These types of changes will be considered for our next feature release.

Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team

I really don't understand why Microsoft Reader doesn't work calmly with Microsoft Mobile.

There's a half dozen other readers out there, some free. I tried several the last day and they work fine. They use a small footprint, don't peg my CPU, and have some solid features I like.

I appreciate your help, msreadergirl... but please tell the big ppl making the decisions that it's an embarrasment for MS that their softwares don't play together nicely.

I'm using a PocketPC with WM5.0 and so far no luck activating reader. I have removed it, completely cleaned out IE's cookies, etc, reinstalled multiple times and nothing has worked, I still get the activation error.

i have a problem with my x5 and ms reader when i go to read a book it takes forever to load and then after a few minutes it takes forever to turn a page and then i get an error that says storage memory is critically low. if you do not increase storage memory, you may not be able to start some progrems. use file explorer to delete files you no longer need, or move some files to a storage card. i dont have many programs on my axim because i have done a hard reset and nothing but the basics and the book that i am reading is on a storage card so i dont know what is wrong

I would concur. It took me so much of my precious time to activate and reactivate and reactivate again during my brief foray into WM5, I, personally, am in no way attracted to this upgrade.

it is now 4 am... i am on my third hour trying to get this working.

So this is what I paid over 100.00$ in ebooks for? to be locked out of my own books while i scramble around the internet downloading installing uninstalling and attempting every fix to something that i shouldnt be responsible to fix?

and people wonder why piracy is at an all time high. it honestly seems easier to steal things nowadays than pay for it and get it to work properly.

There is software out there that can make it so you can read your .lit files in other readers...convertlit I think is what it's called...I like to convert my books and use Mobipocket...MS Reader is junk.

Asus P535 doesn't activate with new version of reader

Christine,

Please email me at tonyw@ourvis.com with the oeminfo.xml file for the Asus P535. I downloaded the newest version of ms reader today, but that file still wasn't there... Merry Christmas!
