Apparently that's the default setting. You can use the Options menu to force the reader to open where it last left off.

I'm not happy that it installed in main memory by default. Anybody have any experience moving it to the CF card? Did it still work?

I manually moved the folder from main memory to BIS, and updated the shortcut in the Program menu. It works fine.

Never mind, Repligo is way better. No matter what format you have your ebook collection in, you can convert into repligo and view on PDA. Looks nice too. I don't think you can do this with mobibook.

well you can convert from office apss but you need to buy the software, and does repligo have a facility to automatically package news and download it?

most of my mobipocket reading at the moment is enews (and it does read palm reader files, so you can use those free convertors)

I tried v5 for ten minutes and pitched it and went back to v4.

Two main gripes:

1. The huge Progess Bar is too big, and is either always on or always off. With v4 it shows up in "Window" mode but not full-screen, which is exactly how I like it. Note that since I have yellow text on black background the blue sausauge-like v5 progress bar is really distracting (not to mention a huge waste of real-estate )

2. v5 always jumps back to the beginning of the book when it starts.

Noisy Crow, the progres bar is about 8 to 10 pixels high right at the bottom. You may have had the page count on (has "go to page" as part of it), which is much bigger. But the progress bar is just a small bar with a page on it. I can't imagin anything smaller and stilll be readible.

If it always goes to the begining it is not installed right.

I've always used MS reader and have a bunch of Trek and other ebooks I take it the MS Reader format wont't read on this reader? Also I get my books usually from Fictionwise, how is Mobi's store compared to the other ones? MS Reader is always a pain to install I would'nt mind not using it but I do have a bunch of MS Titles

If the installer doesn't work correctly, there is really no incentive for me to fight with it. As noted, the v4 progress bar is easily toggled (and is only three pixels high, BTW, so it takes up minimal space even when displayed). Given that there's no additonal functionality (at least for me) it got pitched.

Scarpad,

Try this link, http://www.fictionwise.com/fwreader.htm

I found this on another thread. If your .lit books are DRM'ed, then you're SOL, but if those books are self-created, d/l from Baen, for obtained from friends that say things like "ARRR, Matey!" then you might find it useful. I have the desktop version. It's pretty bare-bones, but it lets me read my 400+ .lit books as much as I want. Not all at the same time of course.

"Can display unencrypted Microsoft Reader eBooks, HTML, plain text, and Tiny Reader eBooks, as well as unencrypted or secure Fictionwise Reader format eBooks."

Well I'm SOL because they are DRM'd I bought alot when I was using MS Reader on my Axim X30. Now that I have a 51V I was thinking of trying Mobipocket. I guess I still can but I'll have to install MS Reader for the other books as well.

To be fair, this was my first gripe, but settings can be changed open where you left off. Funny how Mobi has this backwards from all of the other readers.

Overall, I find this reader pretty to look at, clunky to use. Sorry I didn't become familiar with it in an earlier version, I might have had more of a desire to stick with it.

I looked for that setting, but didn't see it.
Even with its quirks, the reason I am sticking with MobiPocket 4 is that it lets me display books full screen using left-justified yellow text on black background colours, in a decent-sized font. Everything else is pretty much irrelavent to me.
