It mostly depends on the file format of the books you already have. If they are .lit books, MSReader is the only game in town, unless you want to convert them with one of the geeky freeware .lit converters out there. There is a freeware reader called uBook

that I haven't tried, but a lot of people on these forums seem to like a lot and it seems to support a large number of ebook formats, but not .lit. There is also ereader, which has a freeware version and a more feature rich pro version. This is the way to go if you come from the Palm community with a collection of books for that platform. Ereader is available for both PPC and Palm.
The selection is mostly going to be a personal preference deal. I personally don't read many ebooks because I'm too old to break the paper book habit.
