I noticed that lots of comic books are available as .cbr files and that there is a reader for them in PC land. I was wondering if such a thing exists for PDAs?
not that I'm aware of. besides they would either be too small to read or a pain to scroll around.
BTW, Ultimate (everything) rules

Actually, uBook can read CBZ files (which are comic book files that are zipped, rather than RARed). But, the screen size is still a problem. It might work for single-panel cartoons, but not comics with several panels per page.
Comic book reader (CDisplay) uses zip files that have had their file extension changed to .cbr. changing it to .zip will allow you to open the archive and extract the individual jpegs (one for each page). These can then be viewed with any picture viewer.
Viewing them on a non-vga screen isn’t really possible. You just don’t have the resolution to read the text, no matter how much you zoom in.
VGA devices are another matter. The quality of the graphics are as good as the source scan, and the text is easily readable, even when you’re well zoomed out. It's best to copy them directly to a storage card, as activesync might try and resize them.
Personally I use Resco Photo Viewer. Go into the Viewer options and set default zoom mode to ‘fill the screen’, and default rotation to ‘auto landscape’.
Assign whichever buttons you want to ‘zoom in / out’, and two buttons to ‘next / previous image’.
Then just browse the folder that has the extracted jpegs and click the full-screen icon.
Now you can use the above settings to change pages and zoom. Just use your stylus or finger to move the page around. It’s great.
Yup, Resco Photo Viewer + unzipped CBZ files is probably the best way to go...it's kind of tough reading non-linear comics, such as the Ultimate series ones, but it still works.
Anybody know of a way to get Resco (or alternatives such as xnpocketviewer) to open directly from zip/cbz files?
Wow. I had no idea this was out there. Does anyone have some sites where I can check out some comics??

As has already been stated the CBR file format would not work on the AX. I have a great many CBR files and truth to tell some of them are funky just on a good computer Monitor be it Flat panel or the traditonal CRT. The larger the view the less satsifying they are but the graphics on the good ones are avery good and fun. Both DC and Marvel have websites that allow you to download some of the real old comics and subscribe to new runs. Just do a search for thse sites and you will get plenty to view.
Incidentally, it looks like Jay Kimble seems to have gotten a CBZ viewer for Windows Mobile out. It uses .NET CF 2, however.
Edit: One thing I'll note - it's worthless for larger files, and they apparently WANT you to use the VB program that you get off the same page to convert the files to 640x480, as anything larger in scan size will cause the program to have a fit and die. It also doesn't have a fullscreen mode.
Another comic viewer is Comical. It's pretty good. Just google it. It's free.
As for site's to get comics. DC is great at giving away old digital comics.
For free digital comics from DC here's the link. http://www.aibq.com/catalog_1.php
They are free. Marvel is not so good about giving away old comics. You can buy collections from this site http://www.digitalcomics.biz/group.asp?grp=14 . These are in PDF format and can be viewed with Adobe Reader. I have 40yrs of the X-Men. They sell it on DVD. There is every issue in sequence for the last 40yrs on it.
