Just to clarify the Microsoft page says that it is compatible with Windows Mobile 5 just not on smartphones so it is compatible with the x51v.
This is the actual text from the site:
This version of Microsoft Reader for Pocket PC (version 2.4.1) is compatible with:
* Windows Mobile™ 2003 based Pocket PC and Phone Edition devices
* Windows Mobile 2003, Second Edition based Pocket PC and Phone Edition devices
* Windows Mobile 5.0 based Pocket PC and Phone Edition devices
* It is not compatible with Windows Mobile-based Smartphone devices.
I just upgraded and now I cannot open any of the books in my library. I get a message that says this copy of the Microsoft Reader cannot open the title. You may not have the appropriate rights for viewing this content. If you are the rightful owner of this title, please try reactivating your Microsoft Reader
This are mainly books that Microsoft offered for free to activated Reader users several years ago.
Anyone have any ideas? I have tried uninstalling, installing and activating and will keep doing that but would appreciate some help.
Mystery solved - I used a different passport account. Once I went back and re-activated it using the passport account used originally everything works!
Attention Pocket PC 2003, Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition, and Windows Mobile 5.0 Users: Please note that we have recently posted an update of the Pocket PC/Pocket PC Phone Edition version of Microsoft Reader. This update addresses activation problems experienced by the users of some Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition devices. In addition we have made it easier to use Microsoft Reader with device storage cards.
So is there any reason to updgrade if we are having no problems with our current installation? Does this add any new features?

Captobie:
If you are not running WM 5.0 or you aren't installing to a device for the first time there isn't a reason to upgrade to the 2.4.1 install from the 2.4 install.
All feature are exactly the same. The only changes that were made were to the installer.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to assist you.
Just to clarify, version 2.4 of the Reader found at the link above is NOT compatible with WM 5.0. This is a re-posting of the previous Reader for those running Pocket PC 2002 or those running 2003 SE or lower who are having difficulty with the newer version.
Version 2.4.1 IS compatible with WM 5.0 and is the newer of the 2 installs.
If you have addtional questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to assist you.

I definately have some comments! How about a version that allows a user to switch the foreground/ background colors in the reader? This would be especially useful when reading in dark areas, where even the dimest setting of your backlight is like shining a flashlight in your eyes because of the glaring white background. How about some smaller fonts so I don't have to page so often? I keep trying new versions of reader, but nothing ever seems to change. I take that back, on the latest Ver (2.4.1??), after I installed, I could no longer open books from file explorer, I had to find them in the library in reader, then open there, or reader would complain about not being able to access the file. Everything opened fine form within the library, but it is a lot quicker to find a book with file explorer, then open it, than it is to page through the library. Did something glitch up on my install, or is this the "new" Bill Gates way of making our life better?
Thanks
Dave

I took your sugestion & headed on over to good ol Microsoft, & WOW, could you guys use a lesson in how to build a forum!! I don't imagine you get nearly as many posts as you should, just because a lot of people give up trying before they die of old age!!
Anyway, posted my request there too, and actually found att least one other guy with the same request. That means you definately gotta put the ability to change colors in the next version of reader. I also apreciate the copy of MSReader 2.4 you had readily available as soon as I accessed the forum. Thanks
