PalmDoc to MS Reader

I know the conversion topic has been done here, but I haven't found one that works for this yet. Sorry if this is redundant.

I found some free books in .pdb format. I tried Ubook, but don't really like it. I'd like to convert the files to Microsoft Reader format (.lit), or even pdf would be ok.
I tried the Amber Converter, but it just creates a file with a bunch of encrypted text.

Has anyone successfully transformed PalmDoc to MS Reader?

Thanks,
Kevin

ter and while I have found some older software that claims to do it none has worked successfully for me. The best I was able to do was to download a reader (mobipocket) to read the .pdb files. But if you find a converter or anyone else does I hope they post it. I have dozens of really good book in that format and Mobipocket is a pain to use (at least for me).

I went to ZD net and found a converter. It will turn the file into text. You may then open Word and use the free add on from Microsoft that converts .doc and .txt to .lit. Here's the link. (I just found this software so I haven't tried it. Let us know how it works.)

Yeah I tired that one a while back and found it to be difficult to work with. I will be interested to get others thoughts on it though.

Once you extract the text from the pdb (search google, they are out there), and use MSWord to format the text to the way you want it, convert to .lit (using the word-to-lit converter from MS), it looks fine.

Personally, I found the MS Lit reader too slow, takes a long time to load, unable to change the background color, etc. I started extracting the text from my .lit files (use google) and using the Mobipocket reader converting the books to their format. I find the Mobireader much faster, has the auto-scroll function and the ability to change the background (makes it easier reading in bed) to a darker color.

Now all of my books are in Mobi format, plus their new reader allows you to grab web content (newspapers, blogs, etc) and dump it into their format and automatically send to either main memory or sdcard. Good luck.
