What is the best Ebook reader?
1. I want to read many formats (don't care about pdf, lit).
2. Would like to leave bookmarks, and be able to list the bookmarks.
3. Freeware
I have been using Mobipocket, which does most of what I want but it won't let you list bookmarks in order to choose one. I guess your supposed to search the whole book for them. Stupid! It seems to loose bookmarks also.
Ereader was even worse. I couldn't even figure out how to load a book in it. It's interface is so bad I won't use it!
Are there any other freeware Ebook readers that are supposed to be good?
Any help appreciated............Rodge
Personaly I like Ereader. I have found it very easy to use. Just used the main installer program that install ereader to you Axim to also install the books.
I use to use Microsoft Reader but I can't get the desktop version to registor anymore. I wrote Microsoft about it and they never did fix the problem for me. So I started using ereader and I am glad that i did.

Reason: Spelling err
I also like eReader. The basic version is free, and you can mark bookmarks and search for specific words. There is a Pro version that costs, it has additional features. Check the details at http://www.ereader.com/product/browse/software. You can also get a desktop version so you can read books on your handheld and on your computer.
I've found ereader to be easy to use, and there are more books available every month from a wide variety of categories. You can also buy the software to create your own ebooks that can be read on ereader.
I have used Microsoft reader, but it was such a pain to register I don't want to rely on it in the future :bang: .

E-Reader! I use this one the most, but I also keep mobipocket (basic version also free), and an early version of U-Book for other formats.:approve:
Something you might be interested in... Mobipocket also lets you download news and stuff.

I love the e-reader too. Not sure why you found it hard to use. Never had any trouble with it. I liked it so much that I paid the $9.95 for the upgrade. I guess these readers are like cars...test drive them and pick what you like.

Mobipocket Pro; since it went freeware, haven't used anything else. It's great for converting html & pdf to their format for reading, plus it has the web-creator built in now, so you can grab web/blogs from their site and create ebooks.

Thanks, I was just looking over the forum looking for a solution to reading an HTML book and figured that I'd try MobiReader. Seems pretty good; it translated two of the three books almost immediately but choked on the third complaining of too little memory. That's nonsense, but I think the file might be corrupt since it was a newsgroup download without PAR files.
I think I'll see how the news reader works when I get a chance.
Hey...new ebook guy here... so just to clarify, does mobipocket read pdf's?
i have some of the ebooks i found here on aximsite too and they're great.
much appreciated.
I don't think that anything does a good job on PDFs on a PDA. I can read just about anything else using one reader or another but I've pretty much given up on PDFs.
