Acrobat - strange prob - VOID on doc. Ok w/ desktop PC though.
I'm not sure anyone can help with this, but I thought I'd try and throw it out there.
I had scanned some documents for archiving into a pdf. Use Acrobat on my desktop PC to construct the pdf. I had done the scanning with my typical scanner to jpg files.
All is well when I view the pdf on my desktop.
So I wanted to put this file on my PPC.
Sure, pocket Acrobat opens the doc fine, but the couple of pages that are state official certificates have a bunch of "VOID" stamps all across it. I can still see the document, it just has all these semi-transparent "VOID" stamps all over it.
Of course it's some sort of security feature. I thought like certain types of paper that have a feature when you try to scan them some sort of reflective material then displays a "VOID" in the resulting image file. But this doesn't make sense as everything is fine when viewing the pdf on my desktop PC.
Even the original jpg's were fine.
I thought maybe something happened to the file when I copied it over through AS to my PPC. But I copied it back to the desktop and sure enough it's fine.
I then tried a different PPC reader (Pocket Xpdf) and yup, it reads those couple of documents just fine, without the "VOID" stamps across it.
So it has to be some sort of security feature in the pocket version of Acrobat.
I just can't figure out how it 'knows' that those particular documents are official state documents (which are, in case you're wondering entitled to me - so nothing illegal there ;) ).
It's quite interesting actually.
The desktop version of Acrobat reader displays them just fine, but somehow there must be some sort of tagging on those official docs to make them appear witht the "VOID"s in pocket reader.
Strange though.
You would think that the desktop reader would have the same problem.
Any thoughts?
Again, I won't be surprised if this boggles everyone else as well. It's quite a strange scenario.
Sure, I can just use Xpdf to open these certain docs, and I probably will even though I feel I shouldn't and it's a bit of a pain - but mainly I was really curious as to what's going on here.
Thanks! :)
