I have been using Laridian's PocketBible (laridian.com) for several years/revisions. They sell all of the things you are looking for. You buy the Bible reader software. Some translations are free. They also have lots of extras like NASB has Strongs numbers, and they sell Greek and Hebrew dictionaries, Matthew Henry's Commentary, Life Application notes and so on. Daily reading plans are free. Roman Road and other witnessing tools are free. You can add notes to any verse and find them later (you can also add hyperlinks to other verses in the notes, so you can easily hop to a related verse from the note). You can add verses to categories and find all verses in a category. They have powerful search functions (with boolean operators, wildcards, etc). You can find all verses that contain a certain Greek or Hebrew word), abilities to show several books (translations, whatever) at once in synchronized or unsynchronized navigation mode. Highlighting, etc.

Very nice application. I have mine installed on my SD card. In the latest version, there are a couple of things that are a little slow (mainly pulling up different forms, like the search form - the search is fast, opening the search form is slow), but these could be because I have it installed on an expansion card. I am also still trying to figure out some new implementations of old features.

Many of the products get upgraded and you get a free download since you already paid for it. The reader upgrades are not too expensive.

I use the Laridian on my x50 and it is better than some of the desktop software out there. Installed on the SD is the the way to go.

Pocket e-Sword is good but there are a few features that don't work in WM5, eg, the tap & hold seach and definition functions, but it's definitely usable as is. It's currently my primary PPC Bible app.

The Online Bible should release their PPC version any day. It will use all their desktop resources, (no conversion needed), and they have a lot resources: Bible versions (NIV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, ...)commentaries, books, concordances, dictionaries, etc.* Some of them are unique to the OLB and very good, eg, the Eclectic Notes Commentary. Definitely worth a look when it comes out.

I hear good things about Laridian in the Logos software forum.

I have several desktop Bible programs (Logos, eSword, Quickverse) but I use the Online Bible 90% of the time. It takes a little getting use to at first. Once you 'get' the GUI and work with the shortcut keys you'll find it much faster and easier to navigate than the other programs I mentioned.

*Some of the misc. resources have a lot of typos, others are pretty error free but, considering the price (free) there's not much to complain about. ...

I'll throw in another vote for Olivetree. The reader is free and the site offers numerous free and pay versions. Both highlighting and note taking work well.

I have Laridian, OliveTree and ESword. oliveTree and Esword are the 2 best....as a Catholic, OliveTree is better because you can get the NAB to use with DR version. The new Olive Tree Illumina is really nice with videos and mapes, etc.

The daily reader on Esword is the best. If I was Protestant, I would likely use Esword more

Another option is Mobipocket and getting the Pocket Bible everything program from packard. It has a TON of Bibles and Research and Strongs and it is all tied together....

I tried e-sword some time ago on my x50v and had some problems. I use olive tree and have purchased several different translations besides using the free ones. I would suggest trying the different free versions of the software and then choosing the one that fits your needs better.
