Baen CDs - Free Ebooks

I stumbled across this the other day. Baen (great SF publisher) gives away cds in some of their hardback books. Since I always buy ebooks from their webscriptions I figured I would never get one. But if you buy the same title that has cds from webscriptions you also get access to the cd iso and all of the free books. But beyond that those cds are legal to distribute for free. So there is a site that has them all compiled so you can browse and download directly.

Some of the stuff is in the free library, but most is not, and there are a couple of audio books on there as well.

Just in case someone is worried about piracy or whatever, the great Jim Baen has said that putting these CDs on the internet is perfectly fine with him. Something to the effect of "if you want to do my advertising for me, go ahead".

On a sad note, Jim Baen died recently. SF has lost a great man and ebook readers have lost one of their biggest advocates.

I agree totally. Jim Baen was strongly against all the various DRM schemes that cause problems on different devices.

I can't consistently get my X51v to read DRM enabled Microsoft Reader books. I can activate it ok and the books open ok--but as soon as I have to do a soft reset, those books will no longer open. I've never had any issues opening the cool books that I gotten from Baen.
