LIT Converter Question
Hi, I'm new to the forum and to ebooks for that matter, and this has probably been asked a million times, but here goes. I've downloaded ABC Amber Lit Converter and it will convert a few ebooks, but not others. It just gets hung up, and I get the message that the program's not responding when I hit control/alt/delete. It does that with more ebooks than it actually converts. And the ebooks I've tried are from the same place/author. What should I do? Or are there any other programs that will convert the ebooks for me easier? Thanks.

Google is your friend. It will show you the way. Just curious, but why convert?

Are they DRM protected?
Edit: I found this on their web site...

Q: I have downloaded Amber Lit Converter v1.06 and it worked fine with a number of LIT files. However it fails with the attached file and enters some kind of infinite loop or something as it holds the processor at 100 for a very long time without giving any results (the program does not respond).
A: Set "HTML import" option to external parser (Tools - Options - General), open your lit file and then convert it.

How do I check and see if they are protected or not? All of the files came from the exact same place and some work and some don't. I don't understand why some would be protected while others aren't. Anyway, I changed to external parser, and the program no longer locks up on me, but each time it says that there's not enough storage available to complete the operation. I have over 74 GB of free space though, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm so illiterate when it comes to things like this. Sorry to be so much trouble.

I dont know that they are DRM. It was just a thought. As for the not enough space error, it could be as simple as your temp folder is either brimming with files or that there is a read only file from the parser that already exists (from a previous failed conversion attempt).
Try running disk cleanup (just uncheck the option to compress old files). Reboot and give it another try.
Alternately if you can specify a different temp folder you might try that as well.

I did all of that and it still gives me that same message about storage. I have no idea what the problem is.

I'm all out of ideas, sorry. If I can think of something else I'll post it. Is there any way of contacting the developer of the program maybe?

Thanks for your help. I'll look for an email address and then write to them.

If you can get the eBooks as text, you can paste the text in Microsoft Word and convert them using the free Microsoft Reader Converter.
(Text -> .LIT)
