Can't activate MS Reader

I have installed MS Reader on both my PC and Axim x51v but I can't activate either. An activation error reads: You must install the Activation ActiveX control before you can activate.

If you are logged in as a Guest user, please log out and log in again under Administrator or your user account.

Please return to the main Activation page and follow the prompts to install this control.

You can:

Try activating again

or message comes up

I have followed the instructions but cannot find out how to install active x control. Does nayone know how to solve this?

I believe Microsoft Reader does not work with Windows Mobile 5.0, at least not very well. I don't know why Microsoft hasn't updated it; 5.0 has been out quite a while now.

Did anyone find the answer to this problem? Do I have to run ActiveX? If so, where do I find it.

As always, thanks for the help.

It does work with WM5 - I have it working on my X51V.

Have you saved the X51V activation code on a SD/CF card? You must install it on main memory for it to work.

It turns out that this was my problem:

ActiveX: To enable ActiveX controls, open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options > Security and click on "Custom Level." Scroll down to "ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and select "Enable".

I hope this helps someone else!

Thanks,

Nemleu:) :)

Exclamation A safer way to get this to work:

Globally enabling ActiveX controls can be dangerous, as some websites use ActiveX to install unwanted or malicious controls.

Instead, make sure you are running IE v6 or later. When an ActiveX routine is called, you will get a pale yellow bar at the top of the screen that asks if you want to run the program.

Many online activations need IE because they use ActiveX. That's why I keep IE around, even though I am a diehard Firefox user.
