Error message

I am getting the error message:

This copy of the Microsoft Reader cannon open this title. You may not have the appropriate rights for viewing this content. If you are the rightful owner of this title, please try reactivation your Microsoft Reader. See Help for instructions

All of my free books work. I did pay for this book, and I tried reactivating my reader and I deleted the book from my computer and tried re-downloading it. It opens on the desktop, but not on the ax. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Wendy

Wendy, when I read this it reminded me that I had a similar problem some time ago. I removed reader from the Axim; reinstalled it from my desk top and then reactivated it via this address (MS) from the desktop.

I normally run my Axim lean and haven't bothered with Reader since my last hard reset :rolling: However, I loaded it this morning, reactivated and restored my library without bother. If a reinstall doesn't fix it, I would try backing the device up and then a hard reset. :hide: Reinstall the Reader first to see if that fixes the problem; if it does something else may be interferring with the program: load the other programs one at a time to see if you can isolate the problem.

This can be a pain if you run a lot of stuff on the ppc, but I found that when I loaded TomTom a few weeks ago this was the only way to fix a BT problem.

Is MS Reader installed on your SD card, perhaps?

I seem to recall a message like this, cropping up because a couple of little files that manage DRM / IP / whatever are not in the same folder as the MS Reader executable. Search the forums a bit more and I think you'll find an answer if this is the situation.

The reader is in the BIS and the book was on the cf card. I tried moving the book to BIS, but it didn't help. I have also tried reactivating the reader. Nothing works :(

Wendy:

Is your device activated with the same account as you downloaded the titles with? You need to use the same account that your desktop was activated with at the time of purchase in order to be able to read the books. If you forgot your passport ID and created a new one and are activated with that it won't work. Each passport account has a unique ID and this ID has to match in order for the protected books to open.

If you are using the same account please contact me offline and I will be happy to assist further.

Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team
