I have been using it for awhile (after getting frustrated with and giving up on Microsoft Reader) and I am pleased. I read, on average 2-3 books a week

Thanks for the info. I used to use MobiPocket with my eBookman several years ago and it was the best alternative then for that device. I'm liking this version for my PDA as well, EXCEPT I can't for the life of me figure out (been working on this for about an hour now) how to get the PC program to sync the eNews and eBooks to my x51v's SD card. It always puts the files on my CF card and I don't want them there.
On the PC reader, I go to Reading Devices/my Axim/edit properties/synchronization and have card selected. I see no where to select which card. Apparently MobiReader just assumes I want everything to go to my CF, when in fact I do not. For the work around, I am having all files sent to main memory and then manually transferring them to my SD.
Any ideas how to get Mobi to automatically send files to my SD?

Not 100% sure...but I think I installed the Mobipocket reader on my SD card, and all my ebooks automically go to same card (and not CF card)....might be worth a try :)

I actually installed it on my SD card as well. Maybe I'll try a uninstall and re-install and see if that works. I already deleted my x51v from Mobi on my PC and reconnected with it and that didn't work.
On second thought, I think I'll remove my CF, then sync with Mobi set to save to card and see if that will train it to save to the SD.

That did the trick! I removed the CF card and set Mobi to save files to card. I then synced and all of the files (of course) went to my SD. I then put the CF back in and did another sync, and all of the files still went to the SD card- just like I wanted. Mobi is now trained properly!

Glad you were able to solve the problem! I was going to try and look at it today, but had a friend from out of town visiting..... so didn't get a chance!
I downloaded Mobipocket and installed it on my PC (WinXPhome), it saw my Dell Axim51v and offered to install to it. Installed it and downloaded a couple of ebooks to try it out. Books show up in Library but I am not able to read them. When I try to open them all I get is a book cover with the Name of the book and the author. Any Ideas?

Are the books DRM books? If so, have you authorized the Axim to read Mobipocket DRM books?

Where did you get these books? Did you purchase them from a electronic bookseller? Many of these types of books have digital rightrs management (DRM) protection on them. What this means is you are not able to share them with friends and you are not able to move them to multiple devices (unless your have 1st gotten the devices authorized - but even then there is a limit as to the number of devices that can be used with a file).

I'd suggest trying the Baen Free Library to test out Mobipocket, since they offer books (which are free) in .PRC format, to see how those you have on your Axim compare - I've made sure that I registered my Axim's identifier code (found in the About menu) on the websites where I've bought the books (primarily Mobipocket.com) to ensure that they'd work when they hit the Axim.
thanks i just d/l the cab file . i second baen free library. i got some good books there. i think the concept is good too, you get to read a book or two to see if the author is any good. then you can then buy the rest if you want.i read David Webers books then went on to buy a few more in the series....
question, i went to the site you linked but i couldnt find out what types of ebooks it can open? does it do .lit? or .pdb? i got a few isacc asimov books recently that are in .pdb.. or is there a prog to convert from one type to another?

cervi in mobipocket they require that you register your pc and pocket pc. If you have that pocket pc number incorrect on your mobipocket account you won't be able to read books. Check to see that your ID numbers match.:approve:
