Can't sign in to Passport account after updating profile

I recently updated my Live ID account (changed the email address) in order to reactivate Microsoft reader. Now for some reason, I can not log in and haven't found anything useful online on a work around for this problem. Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this problem or can refer me to someone at Microsoft that can help me with this? thanks

Yes it's working, but your explanation of the problem isn't clear.
Can you not log in to your Live ID on the PC or the PPC or is it MS Reader that is the problem.
Have you tried reinstalling microsoft reader to wipe out your old log in details?

Thanks for the interest Box. :) Sorry I wasn't more specific. My problem is that I can not log in to my Passport/Windows Live ID account after updating my profile. For some time I have been trying to change my email address but for some reason it would not update and I always had to log on with my old email address.
About a month ago I was able to update my profile (or so I thought) but since changing my email address (which is my login) I haven't been able to access my account. Currently Microsoft Reader on my PC and PPC are able to access my DRM protected books.
My fear is that in the future I will not be able to access these books because I can not login to my Passport/Windows Live ID account. I do have my PPC activation saved so no worries there but if my PC crashes or I upgrade I'm hosed as I can't login to my account to renew my activation so that I can get to my books that I paid for.
I'm hoping that someone else has had this experience and can offer a solution to get back into my account or can refer me to someone at Microsoft that will be able to help me. I've googled this topic and read a lot material, followed the self help tutorials online, etc. but can not get into this friggin' account.
At this point neither of my login/email addresses are even recognized as I tried to have my password emailed to me and I tried several variations of each account on the possibility that I mistyped the address and from several different PC's. Hopefully this fully explains the nature of my issue.

That makes sense, however, having looked around the window live website, I'm as much in the dark as you.
I'm guessing you followed all the suggestions in the help section.
I certainly wouldn't call it the most user friendly site I've ever been to.

I can't find any way of contacting them to ask the question.

Sorry, hopefully someone else will have a solution for you.

Your right that the help page isn't very useful and yes I've followed all the suggestions but still no joy.

Anybody else out there had this experience?

Go to the Windows Live Help Central page

Then select one of the hyperlinks on the left hand side of the screen, like "Why can't I sign in?", then select the "Get more help" link on the lower right hand side of the screen and then select "Get Support"

This will give you an email support form that you can complete and submit. Hopefully, you'll get a response from Microsoft.

Thanks Julie, you got me started in the right direction. I somehow bumbled my way to this page and clicked on the Contact Us tab at the bottom: https://accountservices.passport.net...0&lc=1033&sl=1

I've got a ticket sent in so I'll update this when I have some info.

Glad to hear I pointed you in the right direction. I hope you'll get a satisfactory resolution to your issue...I have experienced a similar issue with my Windows Live account when I changed the password, but I was able to recover from it on my own (the passwords seem to be case sensitive and I tried the password with and without capital letters until I found the one that worked).

Julie,

you definitely got me headed in the right direction. I got a generic response from Max that had some new things to try that I hadn't come across before. Here's the link: Windows Live ID Support Site: How to optimize Internet Explorer settings

So I manage to login! :approve: BUT when I tried to update my profile with my verizon account I get an error message that the domain @verizon.net is blocked or invalid. :realmad:

So I decide I'll just go the past of least resistance and sign up for a hotmail account. But the domain I get is @live.com. I'm thinking no problem and proceed to update my account. Then I get message that Windows Live ID must verify my account - the original one I signed up with that hasn't existed for some time.

But it seemed to update or do something because I had a valid profile. So I activate Microsoft Reader on my trusty old X5 but it won't let me access my books. So I think that I signed up for another account.

Fine, I'll backtrack and login again under my original account. Can't. Follow the same steps that allowed me to access my original account previously and delete cookies, reset defaults, etc. Still can't login under original account.

So I've sent off another message to Max and I'll let you know what happens.

Cool

Success!!!! Microsoft replied back to my last message (saying I couldn't update my profile) that my previous login did not exist or was deleted and that I would have to open a new account.

I tried all week to update my profile but could never login. Somehow in my delirium I had saved under favorites the update profile page. When I saw it I opened it up it appeared to still be current, not the normal "this page has expired" crap.

So I updated to a @gmail.com account and it appeared to take. So, with shaking hands, I reactived my pocket pc and was able to access my books! Finally!!

Hope this helps somebody out.
