Palm Reader format

Hello,

I've recently ordered a 5550 to replace my stellar but aging m515. I've collected a good bit of eBooks in .pdb format. Is there a way to read these on a PPC? I'd really hate to lose my investment in these great pieces of software. I have all of them in their original downloaded (when I paid for them) condition. Is there anything I can do to salvage these?

Also, reading eBooks is the only way I really get to read for pleasure anymore. What is the premier Reader for PPC? I assume it's the MSReader, but I really don't know. Thanks.

Nevermind, I answered my own question right after I posted above. Found an FAQ at PDM that answered my question.

Oh well, maybe this will serve as something useful for other Palm converts. :D

Note: not all PDBs are equal. Older PDB (also PRC - not the MobiPocket style) ebooks are in AportisDoc format, which µBook and several other ebook readers can open, since they're nothing more than a straight text file compressed into a PalmOS dbase file. However the newer PDB ebooks for eReader (formerly known as Palm Reader) use a different format that only eReader can use. Any Palm format ebook you buy from a commercial site, especially, will definitely be in eReader format and the other readers will give an error, most likely a DRM-related one (whether the book is in fact DRM-encrypted or not), as it attempts to open it.
