Help
Any ideas anyone ?
I recently purchased the Electronic Oxford English Dictionary from Bookstore.com and I cannot get it to open on my PDA.
I have an Ipaq 2215 running Windows Mobile 2003.
When I try to open it from the library I get "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access this book"
I have a desktop PC running XP Pro which, before I could put the dictionary on to the Ipaq, I had to install Reader. Both Reader's are activated. The Dictionary opens and works fine on the desktop reader.
Bookstore.com are not returning my Emails so i dont recommend them to anyone.
Any ideas anybody ?

Check my post in this thread I had the problem myself that installing the new version didn't work because the shortcut still linked to the old version and the solution I found is described in this post..

Saw your post (on 1/15/2004 5:52pm) about how to fix the problem with microsoft reader not reading ebooks and I am having the same problem. Tryed clicking on the "this thread" but it did not lead me to the thread with your original answer. Could you let me know how I could get to your original thread?
Thanks bluenrg

I think it was this thread. I'm not sure why the post ID changed, but here's what I said:

...since the old version of MS Reader is in ROM, the new one doesn't actually overwrite the old one and your shortcuts may actually still link to the old version. I think this happened to me because I put the new version on my sd card. If you still have problems getting the book to open, use File explorer to find the new version, hold your stylus on the exe file until the popup menu, select copy then work your way to the \Start Menu\Programs\ folder and paste a shortcut. (you probably should delete the old shortcut before pasting the new one).

Hey,
Thanks to your thread, I got back on track with the MS reader. The comments you made in regards to the original MS reader being in ROM was a huge help. I checked the RAM for MS reader and it was not there, which means I had the older MS reader in ROM. I think I assumed that because I had a 2003 OS I had the new MS reader update automatically installed, so I tried many times to simply reactivate the reader being sure to use the same names for activation on both my laptop and ppc. I have no Idea why I fixated on the reactivation solution and did not think of verifying the date of my ms reader.
Thanks for the help,
Bluenrg
