It exists... but not legally... the owner of the book does not want to have it available in electronic format.

Oh well thanks for the info anyway. Do you know if they ever plan to legally release it?

I hope so! I have the trilogy (all one book) but would really love ot have it in ebook format. I just can't seem to put my laptop or PPC down long enough to read a paper book :)

Yeah I wanted the e-book format so that I wouldn't have to lug the big book around with me all of the time

There is another choice... you can purchase the LOTR BBC Radio Broadcast... it is pretty good... and is in audio format... and you can encode it for you private listening... I have it on my PocketPC... I have it in 13 one hour segments...

Divx Transfer the DVDs onto the Ipaq? 1 Gig CF card should just about do it.

I've got the BBC broadcast, too :) I haven't listened to it yet because it is just so dang quiet and I don't keep headphones around. But I do feel a little better knowing it's there.

I have encoded it in ogg format and use GSPlayer to listen to it. I was able to keep the files to about 16mb per file... each file about 1 hour long. So I was able to get the whole radio broadcast into 13 files adding up to 215mb. The quality is acceptable and its great to always have it with you incase you ever have some free time available to you while you are out (eg. a doctors office).

Did you say ''it is not pretty good'' or was it a typo. I was looking into it so I could rip it to my iRiver, but at over a hundred $ CAN I decided to pass for now.
I do Have all three movies riped through DVD to PPC. Little under 300mb each.

What did you use to rip the movies? I always seem to have trouble getting the audio to sync.

I use DVD to Pocket PC. The software maker, I forget the Japanese name, have a FAQ on that on their web site. Basically try reseting all settings to default.

Sorry I do mean that it is pretty good... the radio broadcast that is... you have to remember that it is pretty old. There is also several versions available for the Hobbit as well. I last saw the LOTR one at Chapters...
DvD to PocketPC has an option to kept the videos in sync... I noticed when I did not have it checked I had some issues... but I have not had any problems of late. But then I do not do a lot of encoding...

I'd be interested in finding the Hobbit, as I already have the rest. Could you post a link?
