Welcome to IpaqHQ. The link seems to be dead. Have you another?

It's working for me but requires registration to see the books. What kind of books do they have?

From PocketPCMag I learned of another site for free e-books:

http://www.manybooks.net

Two noteworthy qualities: (1) it looks like any book they have is available in 5 or 6 different formats; (2) their selection of books is interestingly different from many other sources. I was impressed.

Hi ebook readers. The main use of my Ipaq 3870 is for ebook reading.
Following the posts and threads on here I think you might like this site for some free modern titles.
<link removed>

Some people might say that this is a pirate free ebook site. So I cannot condone what you might do.

Yessir, it is indeed a site that contains pirated ebooks, of which we here at ipaqhq do not condone.

I am new to this site. I placed a link to a free ebook site that I thought others might be interested in. Some say that it is a pirate ebook site as it contains modern titles.

The administrators on this site deleted the link. As is their policy towards this type of link.
Other ebook forums that I visit, allow this link to remain. As this is where I found it.
Why do we class some modern ebooks as ‘pirate copies’?

If I go to my local public library, I can take out any latest book for free. If they do not have a book that I want, they will order and purchase it for me.
I then read it and return it, and others will also borrow it as I did.

I do buy books. Some new and many others from ‘car boot sales,’ or charity shops, for a fraction of the original price.

I ‘borrow’ an ebook from one of the many sites, read it and then delete it from my ipaq.
Last week on the BBC programme ‘Click online’ there was a feature of a library I believe was in the US, that now holds ebooks. They allow the download to laptops and such of the ebooks. After a certain time, the book will self-delete from the device that it was downloaded to.

All the books be them paper or electronic, have been purchased. So the author gets their royalties.
I understand the copyright laws. But why is it different for ebooks that I borrow and delete when read?

Please do not let this thread grow into yet another debate of the legal technicalities of ebooks/piracy.

"Borrowing" a ebook (as you mentioned), and then deleting it.....is that your reasoning?

That is piracy, no matter what flavor icing you coat it with.

Thread is closed.
