A recommendation please......

I like the idea of having several books with me (in the PDA) but am clueless as to which 'reader' i should obtain....i surfed to Microsoft's site and looked at theirs and it looked good but at this point in my learning curve i'm still unsure that it is the way to go.....so please Ipaq Hq members point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

I use eReader Pro located at http://www.ereader.com . There is a free version of this reader available.

You will find most ebooks in the .pbd format I think. There are other ebook readers, like uBook, but this is the one I use the most.

I use three different readers, Palm's eReader, Mobipocket, and MS Reader. I use MS Reader for books that I cannot obtain in any of the other formats. I find myself using eReader the most with the PocketPC, since it has the greatest variety of fonts and display controls. I used Mobipocket (www.mobipocket.com) quite a bit when I had a Palm OS system. I have purchased titles for all three readers, which means I have to use the appropriate reader for those books. All three readers have programs that allow you to create books from other documents if you want to.

Another eReader user here. Used it on the Palm and now on my PPC and its great. I always have several books with me. As well as mp3s, photos, dictionary....... don't know how I got along without a PPC....

I use eReader Pro the most. They seem to have the largest selection of current books. You probably won't be able to get away from MS Reader. As suggested above, you can get free versions of each to try.

I can't get the fonts to look good in either ereader or mobipocket on my hx4705 - they have that 'dot matrix' look, and if you turn on smoothing, they have color fringes. MS reader is the only one that looks good, but it has the worst interface. - Tried using VGA Brute Force in Treaks2k2 with Mobipocket, but it messed up some of the display input boxes. Do other 4700 users just put up with the spidery text? Just wondering.

I like Mobipocket best in all other respects.

Cheers

Putting up with it until eReader comes out with a VGA update...

Rumor has it that if you can find a slightly older version of eReader, it will work along with the Brute Force VGA hack.

I use uBook and MSReader exclusively. uBook is fantastic for many kinds of formats (unencrypted). Check it out at www.gowerpoint.com.
