The only dumb questions is the unasked question.

1. Open MS Reader
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap the page carrot upper right until
page 3 shows.
4. The Version and the email account used
to activate it will be displayed.

Thanks to these posts I found out I have the older version of Reader even though I've downloaded the new one multiple times. I removed Reader with the remove programs setting and did a find for reader* with resco explorer (hoping to purge everything and start over). I found 12 files but have no idea how to delete them. Any ideas?

Nevermind. I figured it out. I just installed it to built-in memory and adjusted the association to the new reader.

Do you have to uninstall the old version (I have 2.2.1) before installing the new one, or can it install on top of the old one?

Install the new one on top of the old one, but then (on your Pocket PC) go in and create a shortcut to MS Reader. You do this because the default icon for MS Reader takes you to the old version, which won't read some ebooks. This was my problem, but I fixed it by creating the shortcut. Hope ths helps.

The MS Reader installation program is brainless. I installed the new version to Built-In Storage to save RAM and the installer didn't update the shortcut or the associations, as you would expect. I would consider this to be a bug.

Of course, once you figure it out, it's easy to fix.

Here is a link to the newest PPC version of MS Reader. I have to thank you all for this thread. I just purchased an Ebook and was quite frustrated when I got the same error message posted above. Your helpful hints saved me a lot of frustration.
