So then when I try to install the latest version I get an error message when saving the exe file to my main memory - "MSreaderPPCUSAsetup.exe" file is not a valid pocket pc application. Also tried to active reader via my laptop for activation on pocket pc and I get the message "you have an older version of Pocket PC which does not support activation". Any suggestions?

Welcome to ipaqhq, DebbieLA!
Usually Windows Mobile devices come with MS Reader installed and I expect your 3115 already has it. You can check by tapping on Start | Programs and scrolling down. You should see an icon for Microsoft Reader. If not, you can download the program from
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/ppc.asp. Save it to your desktop and, with your PPC in the cradle, run the program. The program will use Active Sync to install it on your PPC.
Once the program is installed on your PPC (either it came with your device or you installed it), you need to active it. With your PPC in the cradle, go to the Activation page at
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/info/activation.asp and click on the Activate Now link. Make sure you do this via MS Internet Explorer (not Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape or Opera). You have to have a Microsoft Passport account to do this. If you don't have one, there is a link to create one.
As I recall, MS allows you to activate Reader on up to five (5) or six (6) devices at once so you can activate it on your PPC, your desktop, etc. This is important if you want to read your books on more than one device.
Hope this helps! Yell if it is still giving you fits. :approve:
