Merely a shaving off a sliver from the tip of the iceberg:
The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and Persuasion by Jane Austen The Three Musketeers and all its sequels by Alexandre Dumas
anything by Dick Francis
any of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern books, especially the Harper Hall trilogy
"The Gunslinger" series by Stephen King.
and...
"Single White Psychopath Seeks Same"
"Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary)"
both by Jeff Strand
1632 by Eric Flynt (free at www.baen.com). A quantum accident sends the modern-day town of Grantville, West Virginia to Germany during the Thirty Years War.
Anything written by or in collaboration with John Ringo or David Webber is great. Again go to Baen's site. A lot of them are free.
1632 is followed by 1633 and they are excellent. Flint is a nice guy and great author. (He does respond to E-mails). And there is a volumn of FanFiction set in the 1632 universe that is posted on the Webscriptions for less than $5.
Baen is for the SF lover. I do subscribe to their Webscriptins and Download some of the titles there. Price is very reasonable. I now have over 35 full lenght e-books on one 128 SD card. Not bad at all considering there are also a few short avi files and numerous pictures of the family (especially Grandson).
By the way if you buy John Ringos "Hell's Faire" the is a CD that has a ton of Baens books in e-format as well as a whole lot of other goodies.
Currently, I'm reliving my old sci-fi classics. The "Ender" or the "Homecoming" series by Orson Scott Card. Though this might illicit seom negative response, The "Dune" series by BOTH Herberts(Frank and son Brian) are great. "Ringworld" by David Niven.......

I am constantly searching for Sci Fi books. I found one I had never heard of which I recently completed: Coyote by Kenneth Steele. I hope it is the start of a series.....
I am currently reading the Mars series (Red, Green & Blue) by Kim Stanley Robinson...... Half way through Green.
I have to go with The Dark Tower Series. I am so bummed about the ending of Wolves of Calla...ggrrrr!! Anyway, I have been a huge Stephen King fan since about 6th grade - many years ago.
I read my first James Patterson novels this summer. When the Wind Blows and The Lakehouse.
I may have to look into the Dark Tower books. I've read a couple King books a long time ago, and... well... his stream-of-consciousness style didn't work for me. He always blows it at the end. But he's still around, so he must be doing something right! :) Maybe I'll have a different opinion these days...
