Many thanks Christine. I have tried what you said and installed ver 2.4 on my sd card. It opened without any difficulty without the need to copy udhid.dll to the windows directory (presumably on the Axim!?) which I could not find anyway - should it be on the pda somewhere. It is not in the windows directory on the pds. I had previously activated the Reader on the Axim although the 'access denied' notice kept popping up. Since installing 2.4 unfortunately that still happens. I have installed the latest version of Reader on my laptop (version 2.1.1?) Do I now have to activate again? I will soon run out of attempts - I am sure I must be approaching 5 goes. Can I contact you direct or only through this site? Many thanks Neil

Neil:
Not to worry. UDHID.DLL is a hidden file so you would only see it if you had "show hidden files and folder" and "show hidden system files" enabled on your activesync explorer (I can send you steps if you need them). This file is installed to the same directory as the file msreader.exe in version 2.4. in version 2.4.1 it is installed to the \windows directory by default to enable activation. In 2.4 you will need to copy it to the \windows folder to activate.
If you have a previous activation that is not working you may need to reactivate. I would recommend uninstalling the activation via Activesync and reactivating. If this is the same device it will not increment your quota. It only increments if it sees a different hardware identifier.
If you continue to have issues please feel free to contact me offline for further assistance.
Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team
