MSReader book "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ"
After reading some of the press releases I found out that Mel Gibson had read a book called "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ" which helped him in his decision to make the movie, "The Passion of The Christ". More investigation led me to a copy of the book in PDF format at: http://www.catholicplanet.com/ebooks...us-Passion.pdf
The book is in public domain.

After a little work I was able to convert the text into MSReader format to be able to read it on my PDA. Since I already had it in the Word format, I also saved it in plain text (.txt) and submitted it to Project Gutenberg. It was accepted and can be seen in this form at:
http://www.gutenberg.net/1/0/8/6/10866

I have the MSReader (.lit) file at:
www.geocities.com/fins2fins
I will be adding the other formats to this site shortly.

What method did you use to convert from pdf to lit? I have a few pdf docs at work that would be great to convert to lit.

keithgy,

I don't have any other books "of this nature"... yet. I'll post here when I do.

KnipKnup,

The original PDF file was one that allowed me to select the text, copy and paste it into a Word program. Some PDF files are encoded a little differently and don't appear to allow this. If yours does not allow this step we would have to look into it a little closer.

After that you have to run thru a few steps to remove the line feeds at the end of each line and reestablishing the paragraphs to thier proper places. Then the footnotes had to be cut out of the text and reinserted as footnotes. Finally I used a MSReaded file add-in that creates the LIT file from the Word file. If you feel that it's still something you want to do, I could give you some more specific help on request.

Since my last post I talked to the people where I got the original PDF. They were glad that I had done what I did and actually posted my LIT file on thier web page also.

I posted to another web site and have recieved a few e-mails from people that are non-belivers, and I have to say that it has troubled me. I'm not sure if I should respond to the e-mails or just stay quiet and pray for them. If any one would like to offer a comment I would like to hear it.

Good Post
Good Work on this. I downloaded and will add it to my reading list. I have had a couple of opportuities to score FREE PDF
e-books but most are protected and cannot be converted to LIT. I am still working on a couple but it seems that many of the SF publishers, that are not as enlightend as BaeN, are starting to add a few CD's with added work to their hard back books for the use of the reader. I copied a few from a Star Trek novel recently and while it is in Adobe and cannot be copied to word it does appear that I can send it to the AX and it will convert to Pocket Adobe Reader. I will keep working on it and when /if ready will psot the information when successfull.

I also echo the sentiment that getting into a FLAME war does no one any good. Your choice to publish this is a service to all and your not forcing anyone to read or accept anything.

Just take satisfaction that there are many more open minded and intelligent people on the net than the closed minded, pig headed, all ways right, ranters and that we appreciate your efforts in sharing information.

finfin,
If you download the "full" version of Adobe Reader 6.01 here it includes "accessibility" features that allow you to load a PDF file and "save as text". The resulting text file is not perfect, but it's another option you might want to try.

And as wmrawls said:

Ditto from me ... keep up the good work!

OK Due to popular demand... lol

I have found a favorite of mine that is in the public domain. It is "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen.

It is also now on my web page. (and isn't it a beautiful page?)

Almost forgot to mention it. I found this one at Project Guteberg in TXT format and completed the formatting and conversion just in the past few minutes. If you've never been there, give it a look.

Thanks for the Book.

As far as the e-mails that you have received I would response to them in a biblical manner.

I'm not a believer by ANY stretch of the imagination but each to their own. I also vote that you don't get into a flame war
