Exclamation Updated Version of MS Reader

Microsoft have just introduced an updated version of MS Reader 2.2.3 (Build 3205).

Download it from www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/ppc.asp.

You should uninstall 2.2.2 before installing 2.2.3.

It will read certain e-books which previous version could not read.

YMMV, but i was able to install over 2.2.2 just fine. Just make sure that Reader is not running at the time. It kept my activation as well.

Thank you doogald. This is certainly a lot easier. I was just copying Microsoft's own instructions.

What does YMMV mean ???

Sorry; "your mileage may vary". A pretty common advertising qualifier from the car manufacturers back when we all cared about gas mileage that the statistics that they were throwing out were for perfect conditions, and for some people they may be lower. Basically I meant that it worked for me, which is no guarantee that it will work for you, but it's probably worth a try.

MSReader

I downloaded the latest version but it seems to slow down opening eBooks I have.

I decided to go back to version 2.2.2

What do you reckon?

I don't find any significant difference in load times. These depend very much on the length of the book.

2.2.3 reads three of my e-books which 2.2.2 did not. I will certainly stay with it.

I can't find anything on the MS website that tells what the changes are with the new version. Does anyone know?

MSReader 2.2.3 slow??

Installed the new MSreader version 2.2.3 and found it to be very slow in comparison with version 2.2.2.

One of my books has 1500 plus pages and I waited 15 minutes and that was enough.

Went back to version 2.2.2 and no problems.

Anyone has the same issues??

Nope - for me it seems the same as 2.2.2. Is it a Rosetta Books title by chance? They were notoriously slow in older versions; maybe the same problem has returned?

Hmm Perspective

When I first started using MS Reader on my AX the version I used was the oen that was installed and it was very fast in fact it was faster than a cat licking its hinney. Some time later MS released Version 2.2.1 and it's speed was terrible. It would take several minutes to open a book and an additonal bit of time to find where the reader had left off from previous reading. The current version 2.2.3 is better on my AX but still not as fast as the original version, guess its becasue of all of the "Improvements". Any way as an oldtimer I guess my perspective is different. New is not neccessarily the same as better.
