star trek dominion series

I've just finished the Star trek Genesis series, and am about to start the Dominion 4 book series- is there a must read book I should read before the dominion series? I know how sometimes a book is better if you have read "such and such" before hand. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This has nothing to do with Axims, PDAs, computers, Dells, or anything that could even be mistaken for having anything to do with this site.

my apologies gbm85 for assuming that someone who read an ebook forum may also have input on actual ebooks. I realize now that I should have checked with you personally before posting. flame on for my egregious error- oh, and please feel free to ignore any posts that are not of interest to you.

Well, since this is the ebooks forum, the assumption might be that he's asking about recommendations for a book in e-format.

If we can have requests for books on religion, the classics and even The Lord of the Rings, I think a question about sci-fi isn't out of bounds.

I'm sorry you thought I was flaming. Sometimes I get carried away and it sounds like I am thrashing when I am not.

I'm unfamiliar with the eBooks forum and after glancing at the first few threads it looked like it was for asking questions about the various eBook formats, readers, etc. I didn't know that asking questions about actual literature was typical. Please forgive my mistake.

to the original question! I think anyone who is into SCFI should read the "Honor Harrington Series" by David Weber!!

I already have 10 of them and in my opinion they would make terrific movies!
I also think David is an excellent author. I bought them on Fictionwise.com and the first book is called "On Basilik Station" and I believe you can get that one free on Baen.com!!!

I'll second the Honor Harrington recommendation and suggest that you try anything you can off of Baen.com. I got On Basilisk Station off of the free library, read a couple of pages, and went out and bought the whole series. 1632 and 1633 are both very very good too, and they're also free. I've just started A Hymn Before Battle and I'm loving it. Too bad some of the other publishers haven't figured this out yet. There are so many authors out there that I'm hesitant to try for a price that I wouldn't mind sampling for free.

Excellent

Glad to see so many people are using BaeN. I am a big advicator of thier site and the philosiphy that they espouse. Ring of Fire is out and it is Flints latest in the Ring of Fire series and it is short stories and a good read. Fills in some background on characters that "flesh" them out.

As for Ringos series about the Posleen are excellent. I have read the entire series and he has become one of my favorite authors.

ANother thing that I like is when I bought the last Hardback Ringo book from BaeN it had a CD in it that contained all of Ringos works in E-book foramt, Fan fiction, A MP3 file of the book (complete) and so Art of the characters as well as a game. Really impressed me. I beleive the lateste work by Flint has the same type of CD set up. BaeN certainly seems to be aggressive in embracing the new tech and the readers that use it.

I also (since I am Rambeling here) checked out a Start Trek Book from the library of the New Frontier series and there were several additonal short stories on CD in the Adobe format. So the publishing world does seem to be seeing the value of Electronic media...now if they can just keep the lawyers out of the mix things may really start happening.
I can imagine Comic art on CD, possibly a mix of reading and special effects? Seems to be me that the combinations are limitless.

Ok enough pontificating and back to work for me. Its snowing here in SC right now so that means all the expert drivers will be in the ditch by lunch time.

I like the Bit Torrent client ABC 2.6.1, available here. It has a Windows GUI, which makes things fairly easy.

There is also a Bit Torrent FAQ here.

B-manSC, none of the CDs on the Bit Torrent page are about Star Trek. They all contain books issued by Baen, specifically by authors David Weber, David Drake, and Mercedes Lackey, and two for John Ringo. They are mostly in a genre called "Military Science Fiction".

You start this thread asking about the Star Trek Dominion series and things seem to have gotten side-tracked into a discussion about Baen and the Bit Torrent process. Sorry!
