Sorry, Obriensville! I was browsing through the site when I realized that it was someone's FTP site that wasn't locked down properly. He was exposing more than he intended to expose to the public. I sent an email to the site admin and he apparently fixed the problem. I was hoping you got to the site before he locked it down.
The books by Dan Brown are all really good, not free though but i recomend them to all. They are The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress, and Deception Point, His web site
I know this is an old thread, but I just stumbled on it after doing a search for "sci-fi ebook".
Using the cat's search technique, I stumbled on to this: http://insane.org.ar/books.html
It has Text versions of some very good Sci-Fi books - including Heinlein's original Stranger in a Strange Land.
I'll go left of center and suggest my favorite sci-fi author that no one has hear of...
Allen Steele
So far the only ones legally available that I know of are chronospace, coyote and Oceanspace. For those that like to read paper once in a while...I highly recommend Clark County Space, Orbital Decay and Rude Astronauts all are great books.
My favorite is Lois McMaster Bujold author of the Miles Vorkosigan series. There's a free copy of Mountains of Mourning,in the Baen Free Library as well as 70 others that do not need conversion avalabile in multiple formats for download

Yep thats him! His stuff is really good if you like near space type sci-fi (mostly based around earth and our solar system). Orbital Decay is probably my favorite its about asteroid miners.
Sign up with fictionwise, They give away Sci-Fi award (Nebula Award and things like that) nominees before the award cerimonies. I got "Stealing Alabama" free and introduced to your favorite author. Fans of alernative history should go to the Baen Free Library and get the Bellisarius series and read what happens if Constantine's roman legions allied with India to defeat an alien presence altering the time lines.
