Which Reader??
OK, I just got my axim last week and am an avid reader. Which e-book reader would you recommend.

I am looking for one that will let me read books (mostly free) without a lot of config/format changes. Just want to download book in Axim and read.

I am using mostly memoware.com and related sites.

thanks
Bryans

I'm currently using Microsoft Reader simply because most of my books are in .lit format. It's free and there are many sites where you can dl free books. You can also create your own .lit documents using a WORD plug-in. For more info, see this tutorial. Under the section on Leisure you will find info on ebooks and the various readers available.

Also see this thread.

I use MS Reader and MobiPocket free reader. The MobiPocket has another feature that I like (sort of lot like Avantgo), it allows you to download certain news channels. I download the Washington Times, Fox News, and some computer-related periodicals.

I use MS Reader and Palm Reader for PPC. Palm Reader is free, and Palm Digital Media offers a pretty good selection of e-books. They're not free but many are reasonably priced. I find that having two readers enables me to view most of what I want (free or otherwise). I also have the Adobe Reader, which I installed to view journal articles from JSTOR, but the print is tiny at any setting. I think I need to adjust the settings of the original files, but I don't have the full Adobe program. It's very frustrating....

I don't think that the files on JSTOR are tagged correctly.

if you move the files onto you device through Active Sync, Acrobat should tag the files during transfer

Yes, it says that it is doing that, but then when the word wrap is on, it won't zoom past a certain point and the letters are still too small. With word wrap off, I can zoom far enough, but then I'm scrolling back and forth.

ubookreader of course
The best PocketPC book reader (and freeware as well) IMHO is ubookreader which you can download from www.gowerpoint.com . Among its many features, it allows you to read HTM, RTF, TXT, PDB and PRC, supports different fonts, has a great autoscroll, and also reads books through .zip files *saves space, I'll tell you! particularly if you've got 20 to 30 or more books on your CF/SD card all at once.*
