Question Pocket PC Microsoft Reader Problems

I order two Ebooks from Amazon.com a couple of days ago. They work fine in the PC Version of Microsoft Reader. When I copy and paste them over to my Dell Axim they will not open. I get this error: Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access this eBook

I then tried to download them again from my Axim and it wouldn't let me do that. I read on another post that is is a normal problem and how to copy and paste it over to your card and it should work.

I then went to Microsoft.com and they suggested for the error

Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access this eBook

To delete all the EDO files. I did that and it still didn't work.

It then said to delete litpath.LPT. I did that plus I made sure that Microsoft Reader was not running in the background.

I then did a soft reset and then I let Microsoft Reader run and let it remake the litpath.lpt file. I didn't even touch my axim for 20 mins to make sure that it could create this file with no errors.

I then click on the new book that I got from Amazon.com. I got this window again. "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access this eBook" I then click on the other book that I got from them and got the same error.

Now all of my other books load just fine. I am going nuts!

I just downloaded this reader from Microsoft about a week ago.

It shows to be version 2.2.1 build 3052. I saw on this forum on one of the post that there is a newer version then this one out there. But searching threw Microsoft Web site and can't find it. It doesn't show what version it is when trying to download it.

One other note: I do have my Axim X5 Activated with my Microsoft Passport account.

I have a Axim X5 Pocket PC 2003

Can anyone help Please!
Paul

Go here and then click check for updates. while your ppc is in it's cradle. I would also suggest updating MSReader on your PC. Then re-download and install the ebooks. For some reason both the PC and PPC have to have the same update running on them. (correct me if I am wrong.) This is at least the process I had to go through.

Thanks Gunslinger for the reply. I did that. IT only showed that my Microsoft Reader on my Desktop was uptodate. I click on the link and download the Pocket PC Version. It shown that it version 2.2.3

I then uninstalled Microsoft Reader on my Pocket Pc SD card.

I then Check with File Explorer to makes sure that Dir is gone and it was.

I then installed the new version on my pocket pc.

Still got the same damn error. Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access this eBook

Is there something that needs to be manual delete since I am running Microsoft Reader on my SD Card?

Which Shortxut are using to activate microsoft reader?.On the x5 ms reader is installed as default in ram in windows - if you have installed update onto storage card or other - you should activate from separate link - starting default link will only run original installation in windows and therefore negate update.(this is the problem I had )

Thanks for the boothy the responds. I have even used file explorier and went to my SD card and Click on the Microsoft Reader Icon and it still brought up the old version. I then Uninstalled that and reinstalled it into Ram. Now it works. I no longer get that error. Ofcourse it eat a lot of my ram up too.

I would love to learn a work around to where I can have this program installed on my SD Card. Do you or anyone else know of any?

I uninstalled the new version of MS Reader for the PPC. IT version
2.2.3 build 3205. I then installed Version 2.2.2 build 3143 to my SD Card. At first it didn't work. When I went into settings it shown the version that came in wm 2003 That version 2.2.1 build 3052.

I then deleted /litpath.LPT (a hidden file) Note that MS Reader will rebuilt this files on the next Startup.

Then I used file Explorier and went to my SD card/Microsoft Reader

IT works. I was able to access my new books with no problem.

One thing that I did note was that the new MS Reader Icon that is in the start menu programs is not correct. It links to the old MS Reader Program. I deleted it and made a new shortcut go to the MS Reader on my SD Card.

Again boothy Thank you

Paul
