New International Version
I think I will buy this product for my coming X30:
http://us.ebooks.com/books/125853.smm
Do anyone have experience with New International Version or another Bible as an eBook?
And I suppose I must have Microsoft Reader installed also to read eBooks?
The only English Bibles I can think of reading is NIV or New American Standard Version rev.
Are the link above then a good choice?

Because of the way that people use the bible traditional readers are not as good and a particular bible reader. I use olivetree but laridian and e-sword are pretty popular too. Going to a particular verse or looking a notes or comparing multiple passages of scripture are just not something that can be easily done in MS Reader.

Cawinters, is it this version you have:
http://us.ebooks.com/books/125853.smm
Quote from the link:
"This NIV eBible takes advantage of all the MS Reader functions, including the ability to vary the color and size of the type, a search feature, links to all books, chapters, verses and footnotes, and the ability to personalize your copy with bookmarks, highlights, notes and even drawings."
It looks fine, but.... I don't know, your post, cawinters, makes me very unsure.

Olive tree softwares free bible reader and ISV_new testament only here.
Works fairly good, can't say I use it as much as I should *eek*. But excellent for cross referencing.
Normal eBooks I use uBook (mewBook) you will find it if you search for uBook here or on google.
NIV is copyright and therefore not available for free... might purchase a eCopy.

Out of interest, I, Robot is now running up the charts again, I bet people have no idea when it was written... I think the copyright is expired? Can anyone publish I,Robot and make money?
I think the same goes for Lord Of The Rings as well... but IANAL

Copyrights in the US are almost forever. I think they are up to 90 years after the death of the author.
If you are unsure about bibles go to olive tree and try out one of the free bibles. There are several that are free that aren't bad. Then you can see what you want. If you are committed to NIV then you have to go with Laridian because they have some kind of exclusive contract with Zondervan.

I also recommend Laridian PocketBible. I have the NIV, the NLT (New Living Translation), the ESV (English Standard Version) and the KJV along with the Life Application Study Bible. PocketBible is a great tool, and it's great to be able to take four Bibles and study notes to church in my pocket!
Swede, if you're looking for an easy-to-read English version of the Bible, I recommend the New Living Translation.

Thanks for the recommendation about e-Sword. I had seen the name several times but never bothered to check it out. What a site. Haven't checked out the application and files, but Laridian doesn't have much more, and e-Sword's price can't be beat. Surely is a living example of Matt 8:10 :approve:

I have Pocket Bible and it is great. I have the NIV and The Message. Good interface. Lots of translations available (both free and for purchase).
I agree with previous posts, traditional eBook applications don't handle how most people use Bibles.

Pocket e-Sword
Dear folks,
I have been using e-Sword for ages ( http://www.e-sword.net) and I am totally happy with it. Infact, I think its better than any payware bibles. And most of all its freeware. Navigation is great. Comes with all usefull tools such as highlighting, notes, bookmarks, automatic commentary navigation, etc. I use it with 7 complete tranlations, 3 dictionaries incl. ISBE, 2 commentary (1 concise and 1 indepth) and much more. It requires a lot of memory. At least 256megs. I just bought a 1gb SDcard and in it fits all I need. It's simple, robust and complete. Easy reading.
And anyway, since I am in Nepal I couldn't afford anyways and credit cards are still a luxury in our country.
But if someone can sponsor me a NIV for Laridian soft, I'd be most delighted. I couldn't buy even if I could!!!
Have fun.

And yeah, for folks that just want a simple bible go to www.olivetree.com and download the LITV (Literal International Translation). I read KJV as I am nostalgically in love with the language.
However, I prefer NIV since its the one I have since childhood. And its sadly not available fore free.
