Question Help! Axim Reset dsabled MS Reader

Hello all. Due to integration problems with my Today Plus installation (the workaround patch that was supposed to defeat the expiration date on the beta), I was forced today to do a hard reset on my system. I wasn;t worried, as all my data was backed up. However, we've come a cropper with MS Reader.

After the reset, I attempted to reactivate the MS Reader on my Axim so I could access my secure E-Books. After I went through the online process of loggining in via passpoirt and pressing the activation control, I was greeted with the message that "MS Reader can no longer access this eBook." Worse yet, the MS Reader splash screen states my copy is activated for "customer!@msn.com".

There's obviously an error, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

Downloading the 2.2.3 version or MS reader had no effect. Attempting to reactivate from a different host PC was also ineefective.

I'm scheduled to fly on 10 day trip next wednesday. I had already purchased all my e-books (in secure MS Reader format) and am hoping folks might have an answer or two that I can use rapidly.

Alas, this method assumes you have a working activaton. My activation seems to fail to replace the generic "customer!" userid with my specific one - thus blocking me from logging in.

I wonder if anyone has a location to download the earlier version (2.2.2) from instead?

OK, still no luck.

Started again with a hard reset (clearing the playing field, so to speak).

Verified that the Axim version of MS Reader reset to version 2.1.

Attempted to activate, again found Amix copy was activated for customer!@msn.com.

Ensured all applications were not running in memory.

Ran MS Reader upgrade routine from website, upgraded software to version 2.3 (build 4182).

Again reactivated MS reader, no change (still shows activated for customer!@msn.com).

Filed support incident w/ Microsoft on issue, waiting for reply.

Did you check out the Activation Help area for MS Reader?

http://www.microsoft.com/reader/info...ivation.asp#17

(there's something here about clearing your cache before starting the acitvation process). Also....is your Desktop MS Reader Passport the same as your PPC Passport?

Also....another thought until someone else comes in here to hopefully get this working for you....has your copy of MS Reader on your Desktop been updated? Maybe both of them have to be updated in order for the Acitvation to work (?).

Sorry I can't pinpoint the problem for you and, maybe you've already tried these things but, hopefully someone at our site has had the same problem and can give you the solution.

Another place with some info.....

And, for when you are really fed up with MS Reader check out ereader. A much better choice. Your books are activated on your device by entering the credit card number used when purchasing books.
