MS Reader problem with Amazon

I received my Axim X30 mid two weeks ago and I think I am getting the hang of it. I downloaded MS reader to my PC and Axim and activated them both under the same email address. No problem so far. I bought an e-book from Amazon, but everytime I try to download it I get an error message "We're sorry, an error occurred during download. Please try your download again." I have randomly been trying all weekend and today. I have checked the threads and emptied my temp files and I synced my Axim. I looked through all of Amazon's help section. I emailed them. No answer. Help!

Might want to try late tonite when some of traffic has gone to bed. Had a similar situation with their Ebooks; I tend to think it's a server load issue.
They have always been been pretty good about business with them. It sometimes takes more patience than usual.

I still haven't had any luck. They still haven't gotten back to me and I have kept trying. I will continue to try (maybe tonight). I did download a free ebook from a site and it worked perfectly on my PC. I haven't figured out where to put it in my ActiveSync to make it work in the Axim though. If you don't succeed, try, try, try, try............

See if this URL helps. There's some info there I was not aware of-like Netscape can mess up a file.

http://www.cewindows.net/reader/reader.htm

File location is important - I recall the .lit files must be in a My Documents directory. Mine ebooks are in \SD Card\My Docments\

If the problem your having is on Amazon's side here is there CS #
(not seen it posted on their site, but works as i've had to call them b4)give em a call and get your issue solved. I personally refuse to use Amazon any more (2 out of 3 times resulted in problems so i go to fictionwise.com for most of my ebook stuff.

any way here is the US/Canada # 1-800-201-7575

If your out side the US and Canada try (206) 346-2992 or (206)-266-2992

hope it helps.

Hi, here is an update on what's going on. I still haven't had any luck downloading my ebook. I have sent two emails to two seperate departments at Amazon. I called their helpdesk (Thanks tgoebel) and the guy emailed their "download department" who should be getting back to me tomorrow. I am not going to hold my breath. PS Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Hmm The end with Amazon

Sooooo, Amazon really stinks. They never contacted me and now my e-book timed out and I never downloaded it. My suggestion to everyone out there is to NOT use Amazon for ebooks.
P.S. Where is a good site to download books? I use MS Reader because that was the only one I heard of.

I've used fictiowise.com before there prices are pretty comperable to Amazon, plus when you buy a book you can allway down load it whenever you want.

Amazon problems

I had what sounds like the same problem. On the off-chance that it might be the fault of Microsoft's legendary quest to make everything incompatible with their competitors, I switched browsers from Mozilla Firefox to Internet Explorer. Suddenly everything worked fine. Now whenever I'm buying an ebook, I hold my nose and switch to IE.

Good luck.
