Recommendations for an Ebook reader?

Since my X30 didn't come with an ebook reader installed, I am looking for recommendations on your favorites. Lots of them out there, but can't decide which to install. Would appreciate your suggestions. :)

I'm not much of an ebook reader, but I've heard many good things about uBook, which is free. You can also get Microsoft Reader for free but there are many complaints about DRM (Digital Rights Management).

I really, really like HaaliReader - http://haali.cs.msu.ru/pocketpc/ I converted the free 1914 webster dictionary into haalireader dictionary format and now have a huge dictionary lookup facility :-) I used to use starbuck (which I bought) but haalireader is so much better. I use it every day and have done for a couple of years. The documentation is not great though.

I like the idea/feature of ubook but I always use haalireader when it supports the format of book I have (I can get more text on screen with a small font and cleartype disabled).

The other option is mobipocket.com which has both a free basic reader and a pay "expert" reader.

All comes down to taste/the format of the books you read. Haaliereader is very configurable.

Personally, I just use MS Reader, however, recently I have been considering Mobipocket reader. If you are an avid reader, and don't want to spend a lot of money on books, I would suggest Mobipocket. The main reason is that there is an e-book "library" at knowbetter.com. You pay a yearly fee (last time I checked it was $20) and you can check out three books at a time.

I've noticed that some ebooks only come in proprietary formats like Tome Raider and Silo, rather than the more commonly useable .doc or .txt format.

It might be a good idea to find books that you want, and see what format they're in.

I love mobipocket here. Used it on 3 different OS's and my books came with me.

I have tried them all and I keep coming back to the MS Reader. I have had no problmes with the DRM issues and I find that it is simple and there are tons of free books availabel if you look around. Also I like being able to take work Word documents and convert them to e-boke format using the the MS WORD plug in. Just my preference.
