pdf ebooks purchased from amazon.com -- cannot read using Adobe Reader

After spending hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get my ebooks, purchased from amazon, to transfer to my PPC or why I couldn't read it on my axim...I finally went to the Adobe user forum only to discover that this was a major but unresolved problem.

Apparently, the ebooks are DRM encrypted (whatever that means) so that PPC users cannot read these files. Not sure if this is a problem that relates only to ebooks purchased on amazon.com...

DRM is Digital Rights Management, they put that with MP3s and other things you can buy online now. Unfortunately I think there are quite a bit of things that use it and well they have a tendancy to forget to support it on the pocket pc.

Hi,

Anyone has a solution to this?
Bought an adobe ebook over at amazon.
Can read in my PC with latest adobe reader 7.0,
then I use it to "send to mobile" device i.e. my activated PPC.

But when I try to open it in my PPC using the installed reader 2.0 for ppc,
it keep saying that "there was an error opening
this document. Permission to use this document has expired".

Any other pdf reader can read these drm ebooks correctly?

I am beginning to hate adobe...should have bought a microsoft ebook version.

I landed up saying the hell with it and asking amazon for a refund. the reader from formerly peanut express, ereader works and their DRM is easy to use

http://ereader.com/
also palmone's ebooks use the same reader... works great in PPC
both places have a good selection of ebooks

I would never buy another adobe product after this.. spent like a day trying to get it to work.. it's ridcolous the hoops you have to go through....

I'm also looking for a player to read ebooks. I'm looking at a few ebooks on amazon, but under product details it reads this "Handheld Compatible: Adobe Reader supports transfer of e-books to PalmOS devices, but not to Pocket PC or Symbian devices." Is there any programs out there for me to read this on my ppc or am I just out of luck???

Amazon.com usually carry both the adobe and MS reader version. I recommend purchasing the MS Reader version from amazon.com, and downloading the MS reader software (free).
