downloaded the latest version of encarta pocket pc dictionary. when i tap the "look up definition" part nothing happens and it locks and won't return to the library on my Ax50v. anybody have any thoughts as to why?

I just received my X50v last week and have the same problem. :-(

Is the Encarta Dictionary different from the regular Reader dictionary? I have the base model, and downloaded the Reader dictionary, and am using it with no problems yet.

I got my x50v in December and also have the same problem with Encarta dictionary.

It's possible it may not work with WM2003SE.

This is exactly the problem I am having. I put in a post last month and just updated it before seeing this thread. Looks like this is a Dell or WM2003 issue. Anyone get this to work with WM2003 on another PDA? Mine is a x50v. I used this dictionary on a regular basis on my Ipaq and consider a dictionary one of my must have programs for a PDA. The Encarta dictionary is good and most important free so I would like to get a resolution. Maybe contact Encarta.

Encarta Dictionary won't work for me as well (been using that dictionary for years with other PPC's - now I have to buy a new one, lol). I too have a X50v. Is it a VGA problem? I wouldn't think it is.

Yes, Gigi, that's right, I downloaded the Reader dictionary; I didn't know if this was the same as the Encarta dictionary. I guess not.

I have the same problem.
I have an X50v
Also the the forward and backward arrows are replaced with numbers (like it missing a font).
Any thoughts on fixing this - or do you have same problems?

i have an x50 mid with WM2003SE and Encarta works perfectly...

as for the numbers instead of a font, find all of the .ttf files (specifically bkdings.ttf) in the MS Reader folder and move them to the Windows\Fonts folder. this happens when you install in BIS (plus the shortcut in Programs won't work). I found this in another forum completely by accident...i don't want to take credit for the idea...

i don't know what the problem with the x50v is...same OS...do you have the newest version of Reader? i just downloaded it for the first time a week or so ago, and had no problems (except for the font and shortcut things...)

if you do, then maybe the x50v has a different build of the WM2003SE OS...

I think it's the same dictionary Gigi :)

Anyway with Reader in main memory and the Tweaks2k2.NET VGA Brute Force hack applied to msreader.exe my version of Encarta Pocket Dictionary installed in BIS works fine now. I think the A02 ROM Update may have had something to do with it.
