E-Book Opportunity

As some of you know I am a big fan and supporter of www.Baen.com and I usually buy a monthly package when I like the majority of the books being offered. Most of the time they offer to allow me to give a complimentry duplicate order to a friend. I have made this available to several people in the past (you know who you are lol) and was wondering if there was any interest or thoughts on building a cross reference of "Friends" interested in SF that we could make available the complimentry order on a rotating basis. Now bear in mind this is a funtion of one order and one complimentry copy not a tacit agreement to give away copyrighted material. After all I want Baen to be around for a long time and the more people buying the books the more they will post of newer titles.
The only requirment is that you must have a legitimate e-mail address that you would not mind sharing. I am not sure of the best way to handle something like this but it could be a nice little benifit and at the same time boost sales at BAEN. Typicaly the monthly group of books is 5 or 6 and cost $15 USD.
Thoughts?

You have to love Baen. If you have a large number of interested people, the best way to keep up with it would probably be to use a spreadsheet.

Off topic: Is that a grandbaby in your avatar?

Cool! I love science fiction and fantasy, grew up on it. Tolkein is who got me hooked on reading. Now all my friends and coworkers think I'm a little odd because I read so much. (Well I am a little odd but that's beside the point.) I'm going to check out Baen now. Bye.

Ungluud if you have nto been to Baen you will find that there is a very large inventory of free SF books available. And these are not the 40+ year old public domain ones that so many sites offer. Most are works from popular SF authors from the last few years and of course there are some golden oldies but you will not be disapointed in what is available.
Happy Reading. And Raynee413, my dear old friend, thanks for the compliments on my grandson...he is cute, takes after his grandfather I think......Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks, I remember seeing Baen before, but forgot about it until your thread. Now I have them bookmarked. I wish more people loved to read as much as I do. It's great to see threads like this promoting the joy of reading.

WMRAWLS,
Sounds like a great idea. This is very generous of you to make this offer. I discovered Bean shortly after I got my X5 (Mar 2003). I never go any where with out my X5 and several books on it. Most all of my books have come from fictionwise or bean.

How would you like us to get you our Email address? I really have no problem putting it here.

I was hoping to get a number of responses from people that are buying from baen or are wanting to and then devlope a data base that we could have online and then if we make a buy and use our gift copy to a certain e-mail user then we could have a live data base and rotate who gets the free and who made the last purchase. I don't mind being the "keeper" of the list for the start up but maybe we could come up with a way of self psoting? Any way feel free to send me your e-mail address through a PM and I will add you to my list.

Egg On My Face

It appears that Baen has either changed thier policy or I was wrong, yes I know thats hard to believe, and they will only allow a "gift" duplicate subscription to a NEW SUBSCRIBER to thier e-book site. So looks like my idea has bit the dust.
Sorry about that folks,

It's always been that way wm. On the plus side you don't have to be a subscriber to get the 70+ books in the Baen Free Library.
